Location: Federal Correctional Institution / Satellite Prison Camp (FCI/SPC), 501 Gary Hill Road, Edgefield, South Carolina, 29824.
 
Work Schedule: Five days per week, scheduled between 06:00 and 18:00 (normally 07:30 to 16:00) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Medication Management: Assist the pharmacist in ordering, stocking, processing, filling, and distributing prescription and non-prescription medications.
Prescription Processing: Read and interpret medication orders, transcribe data to labels using computer systems, and prepare prescriptions for pharmacist review.
Inventory Control: Maintain adequate inventories, monitor for expired medications, and maintain narcotics, needle, and syringe counts.
Clinical Support: Assist in preparing unit dose or pre-packaged medications and provide patient instructions when appropriate.
Administrative Duties: Perform minor clerical tasks, including electronic medical record (EMR) documentation, scanning, filing, and scheduling patients.
Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean pharmacy area and participate in Quality Assurance activities as directed.
 
Qualifications and Experience
 
Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
Training: Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician training course or skills acquired through on-the-job training.
Experience: At least three years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician OR a certificate of training for Pharmacy Technician services. Experience in a correctional environment is preferred.
Certification: Must possess and maintain a current CPR certification.
 
Security and Compliance Requirements
Background Check: Must pass a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) check, name check, fingerprinting, and urinalysis.
