We are seeking an experienced supervisor to lead the blending and compounding activities on our 2nd shift. The hours are M-TH 3pm-3am with some additional Friday work as required. The successful caniddate will have prior supervisory experience in manufacturing. Experience with chemical handling, batching, mixing, or compounding is preferred.

Pay will be based on expereince and qualifications related to the job description, with starting pay around $75,000 per year.

Summary: 

The Blending Supervisor is responsible for directing the personnel and activities of the blending/compounding department to effectively support the production schedule.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervisory responsibility for Blending team team on 2nd shift
  • Provides training and mentoring as needed
  • Selection, coaching, performance feedback, and discipline as needed

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Manage strategy for chemical inventory and storage
  • Partner with procurement to ensure bulk chemical deliveries align with production schedule
  • Adhere to and train direct reports on safety and compliance regulations and policies
  • Maintain inventory for blending equipment and place POs as needed
  • Responsible for assigning daily tasks to blending personnel based on production schedule
  • Attend daily shift transition meetings and effectively communicate information to teams
  • Assist with development of training and SOPs for Blending department
  • Partner with EHS and shipping to properly manage hazardous waste
  • Operate blending equipment and make adjustments to ensure quality of the blending process
  • Follow work order instructions to weigh and combine raw ingredients in precise amounts
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with production, maintenance, quality control and scheduling personnel
  • Support the logistics department by weighing and properly labeling and storing chemical inventory
  • Provide blend and flush samples to the QA lab in a timely manner
  • Follow proper procedures for unloading bulk deliveries
  • Complete all post production paperwork in a timely manner
  • Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for startup, operation and shutdown procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read and understand technical information
  • Understaning of GMP
  • Ability to understand and compute complex mathematical conversions
  • Computer skills, including SAP or similar, MS Office
  • Experience with safe chemical handling 
  • Good organization and documentation skills
  • Ability to provide leadership and motivation
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and ability to multi task

 

Work Environment: 

  • Production environment, exposure to hot, cold and dusty conditions, all safety and PPE rules must be adhered to

 

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with chemical handling, compounding, batching and/or blending.
  • Previous experience leading a team in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to maintain RCRA, Hazmat and other required training

 

Physical Demands:

  • 50% standing, bending and walking
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
