Job Description 

Job Title: 5-Axis CNC Programmer - Operator

Department: Production 

Organizational Relationship: Reports directly to Operations Manager 

Job Type: Full-Time, On-site

Shift: Day Shift: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Monday – Friday. Overtime may be required based on customer needs and deadlines. (Occasional weekends)

 

 

Job Summary: The CNC Programmer performs a variety of CNC operations as required by the customer and/or for production. To write programs for our two 5-Axis Gantry Mills (DMS) and our two 3-Axis Routers (Techno) used for machined plugs, molds, various plastics and other parts. 

 

  • Setting up a CNC 5-Axis overhead gantry mill
  • Generates work instructions, setup sheets and tool lists
  • Offer suggestions to improve and streamline the manufacturability of parts
  • Programming of 3 and 5 Axis machines
  • Evaluate in-process risks and develop methods of improvement
  • Assist in efforts to reduce scrap and rework costs
  • Organize your work area, maintain a clean environment and plan the necessary tasks required to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Understand and comply with health, safety and regulatory requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, supervisors and/or management

Required education and experience: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, 4+ years of experience CNC programming preferred
  • Prior marine industry machining is a plus
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of specifications, drawings and blueprints with the objective to achieve desired results
  • Knowledge of precision measuring tools like calipers
  • Mastercam 2020-2024 experience preferred
  • Knowledge of NC programming (G&M codes)
  • 5 Axis Router and 3 Axis Router advanced knowledge
  • Advanced level programing and CAD
  • Ability to multi-task in order to keep multiple machines running
  • Quality assurance and understanding of raw materials as well as dimensional measurements
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Good knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office

Additional Skills, Physical Requirements, and Competencies: 

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements include dust masks, gloves, safety glasses
  • Can work in a hot and humid non-climate-controlled environment
  • Ability to walk up and down a flight of stairs numerous times a day
  • Ability to work outside
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, noisy environment
  • Knowing chemicals, their dangers, safety procedures, mixing procedures and time limits
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Follow safety and health standards – use of protective equipment as required
  • Ability to work 8+ hour day shifts (sitting, standing, bending and reaching) and moderate lifting up to 50 lbs.
