SCHEDULEÂ
Full-time, rotating schedule designed to provide meaningful time off:Â
Week 1: Work Wednesday–Thursday (5 days off with built in 3 day weekend off)Â
Week 2: Work Monday–Tuesday and Friday–Sunday Â
Shift Hours: Weekdays: 10am–8pm and Weekends: 10am–7pm Â
No overnights. No on-call.  A schedule you can plan your life with. Â
Now you’ll actually have time to relax and not just recover, whether that’s strolling downtown Annapolis, exploring museums in Washington D.C., or simply unplugging for a few days by the river. Â
Â
WHAT YOU'LL SEE (AND WHAT YOU WON'T)
Typical cases:
- GI Issues (vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite)
- Lethargy, limping, minor injuries
- Allergic reactions, skin and ear infections
- Bite wounds, abscesses, wounds, lacerations
- Urinary or constipation issues
- Coughing and sneezing
- Quality of Life Assessments
What we defer to primary veterinarians or emergency and specialty centers:
- Preventative wellness visits, dentistry or vaccinations
- ICU-level case management and overnight hospitalization
- All critical cases are stabilized and transferred when appropriate
We also have the capability to perform emergency soft-tissue surgeries on stabilized patients if you enjoy surgery or have an interest in learning.
Participation in surgery is completely optional. Some doctors enjoy expanding their surgical skills with mentorship and support, while others prefer to focus on outpatient urgent care, and both are equally supported here.Â
Â
SUPPORT & TEAMÂ
You’ll work alongside an experienced ER veterinarian who provides mentorship, collaboration, and a second set of eyes when needed.Â
Our emergency trained support team is highly skilled and actively monitors your schedule for potential life-threatening cases that should be deferred, allowing you to stay focused on practicing medicine rather than managing every step of the workflow.Â
Our team also helps protect your time during the day. You are not expected to manage incoming calls; our cross-trained support staff handles client communication and can triage concerns, escalating to the doctor only when appropriate. This allows you to stay present with your patients.Â
As a teaching hospital, we’re passionate about giving back to the profession. We support externships for veterinary students, technicians, and even high school students exploring careers in veterinary medicine; adding a meaningful layer of purpose beyond the day-to-day work.Â
