Fairview Southdale Hospital seeks a Nurse Practitioner to join their Hospitalist Program.  This will be a dual role with responsibilities that include acting as a House provider and Hospitalist.  Â

Along with the rapid response team, the House Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides immediate medical care to inpatients, outpatients utilizing hospital outpatient services, and on-site hospital visitors for urgent and emergency situations 24/7. On site hospitalist physicians are available for back up, however the role is largely autonomous. The Hospitalist APP is comprised of multiple roles including admitting team (2), observation, and rounding.  Â

Fairview Southdale Hospital has good ancillary support from dedicated RNs, RN Care Coordinators, Social Workers, Pharmacists, etc. The medical staff is comprised of multiple specialty and subspecialty services who work collaboratively to provide comprehensive medical care to the patients at Southdale. Â

Practice Details:Â
Â
House RoleÂ
- Provides in-hospital medical staff coverage at specified hours as scheduledÂ
- Provides face to face evaluations of in-hospital patients requiring restraint and seclusionÂ
- Responds and leads all rapid response team calls (examples: altered mental status, chest pain evaluation, respiratory distress, cardiac/resp arrest, etc.)Â
- Responds to, evaluates and treats in-hospital medical/surgical emergencies and/or inpatient related problems including patient injuriesÂ
- Provide preliminary interpretation of xrays and/or labs included in emergency work upÂ
- Participates in disaster emergencies, real and/or practiceÂ
- Hours are either days or nights 6:30am-7pm and 6:30p-7aÂ
- Weekends are every 3d rotationÂ

Hospitalist RoleÂ
- See patients exclusively in hospital settingÂ
- Provide day and evening inpatient coverage on a rotating basisÂ
- Responsibility of admissions, assisting with cross coverage, as well as coverage of Observation Unit which is managed by Hospitalist groupÂ
- Variable hours including day (7am-6pm) and evening (1pm-midnight) shiftsÂ
- Excellent supportive team environmentÂ

- Great technology including fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (EPIC), E-signature medical records and digital PACs imaging systemÂ
Â
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a school of nursing and accredited Adult/Gero, Acute Care, or Family Nurse Practitioner training programÂ
- BC/BE through the AANP or ANCCÂ
- Licensed or ability to obtain APRN license with the Minnesota Board of NursingÂ
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for the State of MinnesotaÂ
- Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and PrivilegesÂ
- Prefer 2 years or more of hospital-based experience in ICU, hospitalist or emergency setting. 2-3 month training period for inexperienced APPs that would go through ICU, hospitalist, ED, OR, and house physician rotations, in addition to some didactic work. Â
