General Schedule: This position typically works 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma. Position Overview: Develop the strategy, design and production of all college marketing and public relations activities. Oversee multiple special events throughout the year. Work with cross-functional teams to plan recruitment strategies and materials for prospective students and to represent the college by attending in-person or virtual student recruitment events. Coordinate with the college development team with donor relations events, scholarships, and overall stakeholder outreach. Department Specific Essential Job Functions: Responsible for coordinating with college leadership and faculty in the development, implementation, execution and management of public relations, communications, recruitment, and special events. Represents the college or division on various university committees. Performs other duties as detailed below. Communications/Publications Efforts: Determines appropriate strategies for marketing and messaging. Manages the creation and production of promotional materials including press releases, publications, and flyers in conjunction with various university offices. Coordinates and generates electronic communications including email blasts and internal/external newsletters. Creates, manages, and updates college webpages on the university’s website along with digital display content. Strategizes and manages the college's social media and blog initiatives. Coordinates story ideas and coverage with University Communications to ensure widespread coverage of newsworthy stories. Assists department chairs and faculty in developing targeted promotional materials. Assists with college scholarship communication both internally to students, faculty, and staff, and externally, including donor thank you letters. Demonstrates attention to detail, accurate use of standard grammar, and clear communication skills in written and verbal modes. Events/Outreach: Plans, budgets, and coordinates college special events. Designs and arranges for the printing of flyers, invitations, and program materials in support of events. Works with on-campus Conference and Events services to determine food/beverage selection and room set-up for college events, such as celebration banquets and graduation and retirement receptions. Assists the Development Officer in the University Foundation with communication and promotion of events and donor outreach efforts. Recruitment: Serves as a secondary representative for virtual and in-person college recruitment efforts including both graduate and undergraduate programs. Develops presentations, flyers, marketing/orientation materials, and promotional items for recruitment events. Assists with on-campus retention events. Manages the college social media platforms. This position may also affect operations of multiple work areas. Resolves day-to-day operational issues by collecting and interpreting information. Solutions may include modifying procedures and methods to address new conditions and may incorporate input and guidance as needed from the supervisor and college leadership. This role includes broad responsibilities requiring the application of policies to dynamic and complex conditions. Problems generally require significant analysis and judgment. Solutions may include adapting existing policies and systems to address unique situations. Budget Authority: May provide input into budget development by identifying operational needs and requirements related to communications and public relations. May assist with research, requirements gathering, or other related efforts to develop budgetary requirements. Policy & Procedure Authority: Primarily responsible for applying organizational policies and procedures and/or determining appropriate process to follow. Reporting Relationships: Generally reports to a manager or higher but may receive basic operational direction and guidance from senior level staff members. Supervisory & Team Leadership Responsibilities: May provide functional subject matter expertise and guidance to junior staff. Qualifications Required: Requires a bachelor's degree in job related field and/or equivalent work experience in a field that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts aligned with the position responsibilities.
