Job DetailsJob Location: Summit Medical Center - Edmond, OK 73013Reports To:  Director of Respiratory Therapy   Position Summary: Provides respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians, according to established standards and practices. The staffing of Summit Medical Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross-trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.   Responsibilities: Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Sets up equipment and medications and administers respiratory treatment as ordered by the physician; charts treatment, response, and progress. Monitors environmental control systems and patients on continuous ventilation. Performs nasotracheal and tracheal suctioning. Observes patients, checks equipment, and makes changes as necessary during patient rounds. Sets up bronchoscopy equipment and assists physicians during procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Maintains department records, reports, and files as required. Maintains and cares for department equipment and supplies. Maintains established center/departmental policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of patient and center related business. Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings. Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other center employees. Documents concisely, precisely and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy. Participates in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and center business. QualificationsQualifications: Post High School Specialized Training. 2.         Maintains license as RCP through Oklahoma Medical Board. 3.         Previous respiratory therapy experience required.     Special Skills and Knowledge: Care of the operative as well as postoperative patient. Operation of vital signs monitors. Assessment skills. Ability to respond quickly, physically and mentally when priorities and /or the patient’s condition changes.   Physical/Mental Requirements for Position: 1.         Ability to read and write (legibly). Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively. Ability to understand and resolve simple to complex problems. Ability to constantly walk, stand, and/or lift. Ability to frequently utilize full range of motion, including crouching, stooping, reaching, bending and twisting. Ability to frequently lift, pull, push heavy equipment and supplies. Ability to see and hear and distinguish color. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks. Ability to function independently without constant supervision.   Bloodborne Pathogen Classification: Category 1-Occupational exposure
