The successful applicant will provide Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) flight test engineering for ground and flight test efforts for US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) fixed wing aircraft and programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide flight test engineering expertise for USSOCOM fixed wing, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), small UAS (sUAS), and weapon system development programs. 
  • Act as Test Conductor for programs involving Group 2-5 UAS and their associated networks 
  • Evaluate and validate ML/AI system performance, robustness, safety, and reliability using defined metrics and test frameworks  
  • Build AI agent workflows including decision logic, tool integration, memory, and orchestration for test environments  
  • Apply responsible and governed AI practices, including bias assessment, explainability, traceability, and human-in-the-loop controls 
  • Identify technical risks related to data quality, model performance, AI behavior, security, and integration, and develop mitigation strategies 
  • Support and participate in flight test planning, test execution, data management, data collection, and data distribution 
  • Develop and review test objectives, test plans, flight test cards, and other required documentation 
  • Coordinate and provide requirements for test venues, test assets and participants across the DOD  
  • Coordinate analysis activities with data analysts  
  • Apply technical expertise to assess test range, weapon system, or technology project readiness for testing and advise senior test personnel on test readiness 
  • Prepare mission execution schedules, logistics coordination, and track status and risk  
  • Interface with other government and range organizations and development contractors 
  • Assist in directing test operation efforts across test and operational communities to meet programmatic timelines and overcome resource and schedule challenges, as needed 
  • Facilitate the safety and aircraft modification coordination process 
  • Aid in operations and maintenance support planning with contract maintenance teams 
  • Ability to communicate complex ML/AI concepts to technical and non-technical audiences 

Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Class 3 flight physical  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products  
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • 3+ years in test and evaluation, aerospace duties, and/or related technical work  
  •  Experience building evaluation and testing frameworks for ML/AI systems 
  •  Autonomous system test experience and/or experience using Artificial Intelligence in testing
  • Working knowledge of Air Force UAS test and evaluation policies 
  • Ability to operate in Ground Control Stations (GCS) and/or Control Rooms 
  • Active Secret Clearance 

Desired Qualifications: 
  • Master of Science degree in engineering or science 
  • Understanding of and significant experience with small UAS (sUAS) systems, command and control links, networks, and/or associated data links
  •   Experience with Group 2-3 sUAS testing on DoD test ranges 
  • Previous or active qualification/currency for Group 2-5 UAS operations
  • Test Pilot School Graduate 
  • Experience as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) 
  • Experience testing at various DoD test ranges 
  • Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
