Position Overview

We are seeking highly motivated, competitive, and results-driven Inside Solar Sales Representatives / Appointment Coordinators to join a fast-paced residential home improvement sales organization in El Cajon, California.

This is not a traditional customer service or administrative appointment-setting position. It is a high-volume inside sales role designed for individuals who know how to connect with homeowners over the phone, identify needs, overcome objections, create urgency, and convert opportunities into qualified sales appointments.

Representatives work with homeowners who have expressed interest in residential energy and home improvement solutions, including solar, battery storage, roofing, and HVAC.

The ideal candidate is confident on the phone, comfortable working in a metrics-driven sales environment, persistent with follow-up, and motivated by an uncapped compensation structure.

For strong performers, this position offers significant income potential without requiring outside prospecting or door-to-door sales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond quickly and professionally to inbound homeowner inquiries and sales leads.
  • Conduct a high volume of outbound calls to warm leads, previous inquiries, and other company-generated opportunities.
  • Engage homeowners in meaningful conversations to understand their needs, motivations, concerns, and purchasing timeline.
  • Educate prospective customers on available residential solutions, including solar energy systems, battery storage, roofing, and HVAC.
  • Qualify prospective customers and determine whether they are appropriate candidates for company products and services.
  • Convert inbound and outbound opportunities into qualified appointments for the sales organization.
  • Build rapport quickly and establish credibility with homeowners over the phone.
  • Ask effective discovery questions to uncover customer needs and buying motivations.
  • Communicate value clearly rather than relying solely on price.
  • Handle common homeowner objections regarding cost, financing, timing, competing companies, utility savings, and project concerns.
  • Follow up consistently with prospects who are not immediately ready to schedule.
  • Re-engage older leads and previously contacted homeowners to identify new sales opportunities.
  • Maintain an organized pipeline and manage multiple prospects at different stages of the sales process.
  • Accurately document calls, customer information, follow-up activities, and appointment details within Salesforce or other CRM systems.
  • Maintain strong CRM discipline and ensure that customer records are complete and current.
  • Meet or exceed individual performance expectations for call activity, contact rates, appointment setting, conversion rates, and sales-related KPIs.
  • Work closely with outside/in-home sales consultants to ensure appointments are properly qualified and customers understand the next steps.
  • Participate in sales coaching, call reviews, product training, and ongoing professional development.
  • Stay knowledgeable about company products, promotions, financing programs, and the residential home improvement market.
  • Maintain a professional, energetic, and customer-focused approach throughout every interaction.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in inside sales, telesales, call-center sales, appointment setting, lead conversion, or another phone-intensive sales environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate confidently and persuasively over the phone.
  • Strong listening, questioning, and objection-handling skills.
  • Comfortable making a high volume of calls and working with measurable sales goals.
  • Ability to remain persistent and positive when dealing with rejection.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple leads and conversations simultaneously.
  • Comfortable learning and using CRM technology.
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and general web-based systems.
  • Accurate typing and data-entry skills.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site in El Cajon, California.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Home Improvement Salesperson (HIS) registration/license, if required for the position.

Preferred

  • 2+ years of successful inside sales or phone-based sales experience.
  • Previous experience in residential solar, battery storage, roofing, HVAC, windows, home improvement, telecommunications, automotive, insurance, mortgage, or other high-ticket consumer sales.
  • Experience working with inbound internet leads and warm outbound calling campaigns.
  • Experience using Salesforce or a comparable CRM.
  • Proven history of meeting or exceeding appointment, conversion, revenue, or sales targets.
  • Experience working in a commission-driven environment.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?

The strongest performers are typically people who:

  • Love selling. They enjoy the challenge of turning a conversation into an opportunity.
  • Are competitive. Goals, rankings, commissions, and performance metrics motivate them.
  • Don't give up after one call. They understand that follow-up is where many sales are won.
  • Can handle rejection. Hearing "no" doesn't affect the energy they bring to the next call.
  • Know how to listen. They don't simply read a script—they identify what matters to the homeowner.
  • Can overcome objections. Price, timing, competition, and uncertainty are opportunities for conversation rather than reasons to end one.
  • Create urgency without being overly aggressive.
  • Take coaching well. They listen to feedback, study their performance, and continuously improve.
  • Are financially motivated. They want a compensation structure where increased performance can directly increase earnings.
  • Are reliable and disciplined. They show up, follow the process, maintain their pipeline, and consistently execute.

Ideal Candidate Backgrounds

While previous solar experience is highly desirable, successful candidates may also come from other high-volume, consumer-focused sales environments, including:

Solar & Home Services: Solar, roofing, HVAC, windows, doors, remodeling, water treatment, security systems

High-Ticket Consumer Sales: Automotive sales, mortgage, lending, insurance, telecommunications, timeshare, fitness membership sales

Phone-Based Sales: Inside sales, telesales, call-center sales, appointment setting, lead generation, SDR/BDR roles, customer retention and upselling

The common denominator is a proven ability to sell over the phone, work leads consistently, overcome objections, and perform in a commission-driven environment.
