FAILURE TO COMPLETE ALL ITEMS ON THIS APPLICATION WILL RESULT IN YOUR ELIMINATION FROM THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS.** Summary: A non-exempt, licensed position that must have the ability to transport individuals as described within the Americans with Disabilities Act in a friendly, courteous and professional manner within the allotted time window as designated by the Paratransit Service Contracts. Must be flexible to change as well as knowledgeable of the California Highway Patrol's Motor Carrier Safety Compliances. Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements. Drives bus to transport passengers over specified routes to local or distant points according to time schedule by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Transport passengers as per the designated route and schedule. 2. Driver shall maintain satisfactory rating in all areas of performance with respect to: Safety; mechanical operation; conformance with laws, policies, and regulations; adherence to established routes and schedules; responsible for the handling of passengers and other factors relating to the transportation of persons with disabilities. 3. Driver will insure all equipment shall be reasonably clean throughout both inside and out prior to each service run. 4. Exteriors of all vehicles, including wheels, shall be washed at least once per week, or more often as necessary. 5. Backs of vehicles shall be cleaned daily on all vehicles used in service that day. Windows and stanchions shall be washed and floors mopped at least once per week, or more often as necessary, on all vehicles. 6. Driver windows shall be washed daily. 7. Ceilings and walls shall be thoroughly cleaned at least once per month, or more often as necessary, on all vehicles. 8. Interiors shall be dusted and swept, with trash removed, on a daily basis, or more often as necessary, on all vehicles used in service that day. 9. Will be responsible for ensuring that wheelchair lift apparatus is functioning properly. 10. Will be responsible for maintaining vehicle records to include pre trips and post trip safety checks, driver's log (when necessary}, route manifest, and other records as required by the agency. 11 . Drivers shall be trained in passenger assistance techniques for developmentally / physically disabled persons. At minimum drivers will have knowledge of the procedures to use for boarding and exiting riders onto the vehicle, and emergency procedures / evacuation in case of fire, accident, bad weather and other emergencies. SUPPLEMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Will be well groomed and wear an agency approved uniform with name badge at all times when on duty. 2. While in uniform, no employee shall purchase, consume, or be under the influence of any narcotic, intoxicant, or harmful drug. 3. Posses a GPPV certification as provided by the Department of Motor Vehicles and the California Highway Patrol; or within 6 months of hiring obtain GPPV certification; Posses a valid, class B with passenger endorsement driver's license, issued by the State California or VDDP. 4. The minimum age of drivers will be 21 years. 5. A driver shall not have been convicted of reckless operation of motor vehicle within a five (5) year period immediately preceding his/her consideration for employment. 6. Driver shall not have been convicted of operating a motor vehicle under the influences of alcoholic beverages and/or controlled substance (commonly referred to as "drugs") within the five (5) years period immediately preceding his/her consideration for employment. 7. Driver shall not have been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude. 8. Vehicle operators shall have successfully completed training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid prior to operating any vehicle for this position or within 90 days of hire. 9. Will not use drugs, alcohol, or tobacco while driving a vehicle or carry firearms, knives, or other weapons that are prohibited on said vehicles. 10. Will not accept gratuities. 11 . Will conduct themselves in a professional manner at all time while on duty. 12. Boisterous language, profanity, or incivility to anyone shall not be allowed while in uniform, on or off duty. 13. Drivers must be in good physical and mental health at all times when driving or riding in vehicles in service for the Contractor and in accordance with contract requirements, and must have eight hours of uninterrupted rest prior to driving a schedule route. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must be able to communicate (read, write, speak) at least 50% in the English language. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must posses a California Commercial Class B license with Passenger (P) endorsement. Must have a clean DMV Record. (Must provide a 10 year DMV printout prior to hire).
