Diagnostic Imaging - Mammography Coordinator FT

II.  JOB DESCRIPTION: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.  Verifies patients identity and physician order prior to start of examination.  
2.  Administers oral and IV contrast media as required for the requested examination if working in CT.    
3.  Performs Mammograms accurately according to established procedure or Radiologist's special instructions.  
4.  Completes machine warm-up/shut down procedure.  
5.  Assists with other department task when not performing mammograms.  
6. Maintains accurate and complete records, (i.e. Mammo QA, log book, daily work sheet as well as all information on designated screens in the hospital MEDITECH computer system).  
7. Brings previous exams forward for comparison by Radiologist and passes images to reading room for interpretation.  
8. Obtains pertinent physical history on all patients/exams.  
9. Practices radiation safety by following, federal, state and hospital policies.  
10. Maintains a clear and orderly work area and keeps a needed stock of supplies available.  
11. Demonstrates good guest relation skills while dealing with patients, their families, physicians and other hospital and department staff.  
12. Performs radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, along with all modalities in which the Tech is trained.   
13. Reports malfunctioning equipment to manager and call repairmen when needed.  
14. Files and maintains records for Mammography Accreditation.  
15. Maintains patient confidentiality while following established hospital policy regarding confidentiality issues.  
16. Assists in the teaching of all radiology students who are assigned to SBAMH as a clinical training site.  
17. Attends at least 75% of department meetings.  
18. Attends all mandatory meetings as established by the hospital.  
19. Maintains required CEU level as established by the ARRT for annual certification status.  
II.  JOB DESCRIPTION: QUALIFICATIONS
  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  
Shall be competent in Mammography and procedures, both screening and diagnostic.

Education:  
High School diploma or equivalent, or, graduated from an approved radiologic training program. Registered by ARRT in Radiologic Technology.

Experience:  
Computed Tomography, a plus but not required.

Certification/Licensure:  
Is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) for Mammograms and is in good standing with same. CT Scanning Registry, or MRI is a plus.

May require constant standing.  Requires frequent walking.  Requires frequent lifting of 10-20 lbs.  Requires occasionally heavy lifting of 55 lbs., above 55 lbs. with assistance.  Requires carrying of 25 lbs. frequently, and occasionally carrying 50lbs.  Requires occasionally pushing and pulling 100 lbs.  Requires occasional twisting, kneeling, bending, reaching, and overhead work.  Requires occasional use of step stool and stairs.  Requires frequent grasping.  Ability to use typewriter, telephone, copier, and fax machine is required.  Exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials is required.  Eye sight and hearing shall be required to be corrected to normal range.  Requires working under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours.  Eye-hand coordination and finger and manual dexterity are required.  Required to work with sharps, magnetic fields, radiation, and body fluids.
