Specialty Clinic RN Cardiac and Wound Care

JOB DESCRIPTION: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS        
1. Contributes to developing policies and procedures for the Outpatient Clinics.        
2. Markets the clinics and procedures, tests, and services to physicians and community.        
3. Creates and documents patient care on an initial and ongoing basis.        
4. Assures compliance with accrediting organizations (JCAHO, Medicare, etc.)        
5. Provides client education to patients and/or family through lectures,  written material, discharge summaries, discharge instructions, videos etc., to educate clients on disease process, and/or treatments.          
6. Communicate with patient and/or family and meet behavior standards concerning courtesy,  sensitive information, physical care, emotional care, safety, privacy, and confidentiality.        
7. Report significant client status changes to medical director or primary care physician.         
8. Interprets physiologic information (ECG rhythm strips, SpO2’s, wound status, EEGs NCTs, skin assessments, etc.) obtained from  testing or exercise sessions.         
9. Serves as community resource for information and education regarding difference areas within the Outpatient Clinic’s scope of service.        
10.  Follows prescribed exercise prescriptions in Cardiac Rehabilitation and revises as needed.        
11.  Administer medications including narcotics according to hospital policy.        
12. Administer IV’s and IV medications.
13. Follow all infection control procedures and policies (including use of universal/standard precautions)    
14. Performs the essential functions of a Registered Nurse.        
15.  Performs other duties as assigned.    

JOB DESCRIPTION: QUALIFICATIONS        
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:        
A. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Must have in-depth knowledge of  cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and risk-factor modification strategies, uses of educational programs, and technologies as applied to  cardiac rehabilitation services. C. Must have the ability to communicate well with clients and team members.        
Education:        
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or above preferred.   Must have experience with wound care and understand current practices.  Must be able to identify appropriate dressings for different types of wounds.        
Experience:        
Two to three years experience in cardiac rehabilitation  preferred.  One year in wound management or related field preferred.  One year in Neurology or performing EEGs preferred.          
Certification/Licensure:        
Must be licensed by the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse        
Code Blue Training: BLS required. ACLS certification preferred.        
Ability to activate Code Blue system by dialing 200.        
May require frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and grasping.  Occasionally requires lifting and carrying up to 35 lbs.  May also require pushing and pulling up to 35 lbs.  Job requires full range of body motion, with occasional twisting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and reaching.  Job may require reaching overhead.  Job requires ability to handle and lift clients.  Eye-hand coordination, and finger and manual dexterity are required.  Requires corrected hearing and vision to a normal range.  Job requires working under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours.  Some exposure to communicable diseases, sharps, and hazardous material is anticipated.  Job requires potential exposure to body fluids and radiation.  Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols.  Use of office equipment such as telephones, copying machines, and intercom may be required.  Repetitive movements such as writing are required.

JOB DESCRIPTION: WORKING CONDITIONS        
Includes working weekends and holidays, with potential for varied shifts, overtime, cost containment absent days, or standby time.
