About the Role:
The Superintendent for Grounds Keeping & Landscape is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, enhancement, and overall aesthetic quality of outdoor spaces across various properties. This role ensures that all landscaping projects and groundskeeping activities are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards, contributing to the visual appeal and environmental health of the site. The superintendent will lead and manage a team of groundskeepers and landscapers, coordinating schedules, assigning tasks, and providing training to maintain productivity and quality. They will also collaborate with property managers, vendors, and contractors to plan and implement landscaping improvements and seasonal plantings. Ultimately, this position plays a critical role in creating and sustaining attractive, safe, and functional outdoor environments that meet organizational goals and community expectations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of horticulture, turf management, and landscape maintenance techniques.
- Familiarity with the safe operation of landscaping equipment and tools.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between multiple sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or certification in horticulture, landscape management, or a related discipline.
- Experience with irrigation systems installation and maintenance.
- Pesticide applicator certification or equivalent licensing.
- Proficiency in using landscaping management software or scheduling tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and vendor contracts.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily groundskeeping and landscaping activities to ensure timely and quality completion of tasks.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules for lawns, gardens, trees, and other landscape features.
- Manage and train groundskeeping staff, fostering a safe and productive work environment.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of landscaping equipment and tools, ensuring proper use and safety compliance.
- Collaborate with property management and external vendors to plan and execute landscaping projects and seasonal enhancements.
- Monitor and manage inventory of supplies, fertilizers, and materials required for grounds maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices related to pesticide use, irrigation, and waste management.
- Conduct regular inspections of grounds to identify issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
