Health & Safety Specialist
Position Summary
The Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe, compliant, and productive work environment. This role supports the implementation of health and safety programs, ensures compliance with OSHA and company regulations, conducts audits and investigations, and partners with operations leadership to reduce workplace risks and incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular facility inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal safety regulations
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses; identify root causes and corrective actions
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures
- Deliver safety training, onboarding, and toolbox talks for employees and contractors
- Monitor PPE compliance and ensure proper usage throughout the facility
- Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and compliance documentation
- Support emergency preparedness and response planning
- Partner with operations and leadership teams to drive continuous safety improvement initiatives
- Track safety metrics and provide recommendations to reduce incidents and improve performance
- Assist with workers’ compensation claims management and return-to-work programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, or related field preferred
- 2–5 years of experience in a health and safety role
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Excellent communication and training skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 30
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
- CHST
- NEBOSH
- First Aid/CPR Certification
Work Environment
- Combination of office and field/warehouse/manufacturing environment
- Ability to walk facilities, lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally work flexible hours as needed
