About the Role:

The Dental Surgery Coordinator plays a pivotal role in managing and streamlining the operations of dental surgical services within our Dental facility. This position is responsible for coordinating dental surgery schedules, liaising between dental surgery facilities, Dentists, Doctors, patients, and support staff to ensure seamless procedural flow and optimal patient care. The role demands oversight of pre-operative and post-operative processes, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Ultimately, this position aims to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction by fostering effective communication and operational excellence within the dental surgery department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in dental surgery coordination or healthcare operations management.
  • Strong knowledge of dental surgical procedures, terminology, and clinical protocols.
  • Proficiency with healthcare scheduling software and electronic medical records (EMR) systems, DENTRIX recommended.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, excellent phone etiquette.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in healthcare management or surgical coordination (e.g., Certified Medical Manager, Certified Surgical Services Manager).
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary surgical environment within a hospital or large dental practice.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as OSHA, HIPAA, and other compliance requirements.
  • Advanced training in patient safety and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage daily surgical schedules for dental procedures, ensuring timely and efficient use of operating rooms and staff.
  • Present and discuss financial treatment estimates.
  • Submit Dental and Medical prior authorization and claims.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between dental surgeons, nursing staff, administrative personnel, and patients to facilitate clear communication and coordination.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of surgical instruments and supplies to maintain readiness and prevent shortages.
  • Monitor compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and institutional policies within the dental surgery unit.
  • Train and mentor junior coordinators and support staff to uphold departmental standards and improve operational workflows.
  • Analyze surgical workflow data to identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and patient care quality.

The required skills enable the Dental Surgery Coordinator to effectively manage complex surgical schedules and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, ensuring smooth daily operations. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with surgeons, patients, and staff, facilitating clear and timely information exchange.
