Job Summary:
This position is responsible for management, coordination, and technical expertise in all areas of safety, health, and environmental compliance, include assisting with inspections, accident investigations, conducting safety meetings, and the overall implementation of project Safety and Health programs.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provide training and education to employees regarding safety standards, expectations, and requirements, including safe operation of equipment & machinery.
• Create and implement safety plans while ensuring they are followed on a daily basis.
• Recommend solutions to issues, safety improvement opportunities, and new safety prevention measures in the workplace.
• Attend Safety Walks & Inspections to analyze safety risks before and during each project.
• Conduct safety near misses and observation reports on a regular basis.
• Conduct post-accident investigations as they occur and identify cause(s) of the accident.
• Maintain records and documentation of safety procedures, accidents, and other related events.
• Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel.
• Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they relate to the construction project
• Enforce all on-site compliance with safety program requirements, project procedures, work rules, and company policies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications


Required Skills/Abilities:
• Demonstrated ability to identify known potential exposures and lead implementation of corrective actions.
• Effective time management and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentations.
• Excellent understanding of industry practices, requirements, and standards (federal, state, city, and OSHA).
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and provide effective feedback.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and project managers.
• Able to work additional hours to include weekends if needed.

Education and Experience:
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health and/or extensive safety experience in construction (7 years preferred).
• Five (5) to seven (7) years of related construction experience in a supervisory role.
• CHST certification is preferred.
• OSHA 30-hour construction certification.
• Proficient computer skills and experience with MS Office Suite applications (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and auditor safety software.


Physical Requirements:
• Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
• Regularly sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.
• May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on frequent basis.
• Regularly climb stairs or ladders, etc.
• Regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Exposure to outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
• Able to wear personal protective equipment is required, including but not limited to steel toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
• Must be able to move, lift, pull, push up to 50 pounds at times.
