Job Summary:
As a skilled laborer in construction, you will play a vital role in various building projects by performing a range of tasks that require expertise and hands-on experience in construction and related fields. You will work alongside construction teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You should also be able to take instructions from superiors and complete on-the-job training.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
· Performing Construction Tasks: Execute tasks such as framing, concrete work, installation, and general carpentry based on project requirements.
· Operating Tools and Equipment: Safely operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment such as saws, drills, hammers, forklifts, and excavators.
· Reading drawings: Interpret and follow construction drawings and specifications to ensure accurate and precise work.
· Performing Site Cleanup: Clean and organize work areas, remove debris, and maintain a clean and orderly construction site.
· Material Handling: Receive, unload, and distribute construction materials and equipment to appropriate locations on-site.
· Assisting with Quality Control: Participate in quality control inspections and ensure that work meets project specifications and industry standards.
· Maintaining Safety Standards: Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
· Collaborating with Team: Work cooperatively with construction team members, form setters, concrete finishers, contractors, and supervisors to meet project deadlines and goals.
· Reporting and Communication: Communicate effectively with supervisors, reporting progress, issues, and any potential safety hazards promptly.
· Adhering to Regulations: Follow all relevant building codes, regulations, and standards to ensure compliance and quality in construction projects.
· Regular attendance is required according to company policy to ensure the crew can operate at a normal efficiency level.
· Follow instructions and comprehend construction needs.
· Performs other duties of a similar or related nature as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Basic use and knowledge of common hand tools and equipment.
· Strong knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a construction setting.
· Proficiency in operating construction tools, equipment, and machinery.
· Excellent painting, cutting, drilling, and assembling of structures.
· Able to read, interpret, and understand drawings, instructions, and blueprints.
· Able to use various hand tools (pickaxes, trench shovels, sledgehammers, concrete saws, mini excavators, etc.).
· Working knowledge of general hand tools, power tools, and compaction equipment.
· Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
· Able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
· Relevant certifications or licenses may be required depending on local regulations.
Able to push/pull/lift up to 75lbs. Team lift required for 75+ lbs.
Education and Experience:
· High School or equivalent (preferred).
· Minimum two (2) years’ field experience in the construction industry.
· Previous experience or the completion of a relevant apprenticeship is preferred.
· Valid Driver’s License (preferred)
Physical Requirements:
· Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
· Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
· Work in confined spaces, as needed.
· May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
· Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, climb, and balance repeatedly or continually throughout shift.
· Continually works near heavy equipment, power tools and moving machinery.
· Exposure to outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
· Able to push/pull 80+ lbs.
· Able to lift/carry 80+ lbs.
· Able to operate a motor vehicle and machinery.
· Able to wear personal protective equipment is required, including but not limited to steel-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
