BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Administers the closing process. Explains the process to all parties involved, collects the necessary signatures and assures that all the signed documents reach the appropriate parties. Work together with other Title and Closing personnel to coordinate all necessary documents needed for closing.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Confers with realtors, lending institution personnel, buyers, sellers, contractors, surveyors, attorneys, and courthouse personnel to exchange title-related information or resolve problems.
Meets with individuals involved in legal processes to provide information and clarify issues.
Verifies accuracy and completeness of land-related documents accepted for registration and preparing rejection notices when documents are not acceptable.
When contract is received, verifies all items pre and post-closing, including clear to close, payoffs, taxes, HOAs, insurance premiums, loan amounts, sales price, earnest funds, insurance remittance and commissions in order to prepare/review settlement statement and closing disclosure.
Ensures closing disclosure fee accuracy and loan documents are being received, reviewed, and sent to client in an orderly and timely manner both pre and post close consistent with client expectations.
Cultivates new business relationships with residential agents to build sales.
Maintains an understanding of title insurance requirements and guidelines in Texas and stay current on changing rules.
Attends team meetings to stay abreast of new processes, improvements, and training as needed.
Maintain and understand compliance to ensure that work complies with GECU’s established policies, procedures and applicable regulations, to include Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML) addressing Money Laundering and the Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Member Identification Program (MIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC).
Other duties as may be assigned or required in connection with the general operation of the credit union and/or Title and Closing Services.
CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma. Associates degree preferred.
Minimum requirement of 5 - 7 years of title and closing services experience.
Experience building residential business relationships.
ALTA best practices experience preferred.
Licensed Escrow Officer preferred. Must obtain Escrow Officer license within 6 months of starting position.
Thorough knowledge of the entire title and closing process.
Experience within the real estate industry and with closing documents and title clearance processes.
Strong leadership skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
Knowledge of client-based systems.
Attention to detail.
Motivated and positive team player.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to problem solve and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Manage any subordinate representatives of Title and Closing Services and will work directly with them on day-to-day production goals.
Requires sitting the majority of the day, lifting up to 20 pounds, bending and reaching above and below shoulder level occasionally.
