Mission IT OperationsĀ focusesĀ onĀ providingĀ the engineeringĀ enterprise withĀ anĀ IT infrastructureĀ enabling engineers to concentrate on their coreĀ competencyĀ without distractionĀ from the infrastructure.Ā Mission IT Operations is looking for anĀ IT Infrastructure Systems ArchitectĀ (Engineering Specialist).Ā As engineers ourselves,Ā Mission IT OperationsĀ closely identifiesĀ with our engineeringĀ colleaguesĀ andĀ implementsĀ technicallyĀ viableĀ ITĀ services andĀ solutions that integrate seamlesslyĀ across multipleĀ spaceĀ engineering disciplinesĀ andĀ customerĀ satellite launchĀ operations.Ā

The role of IT Infrastructure Systems ArchitectĀ is responsible forĀ devising, defining,Ā developing,Ā integrating,Ā and documenting complexĀ ITĀ system architecturesĀ designed toĀ support theĀ engineeringĀ ITĀ (aka,Ā missionĀ IT)Ā infrastructure. This technical role combines system administrationĀ expertiseĀ withĀ innovation andĀ architectural designĀ skillsĀ toĀ provideĀ production-levelĀ infrastructure servicesĀ in support of satellite, launch, weatherĀ modelingĀ and simulation.Ā This position requires hands on troubleshooting across Windows and/or Linux environments, applying problem-solving skills to resolve issues in complex and evolving technical environments.Ā TheĀ positionĀ maintainsĀ cyber protectionĀ across theĀ missionĀ ITĀ infrastructureĀ whileĀ identifyingĀ potential solutions toĀ critical technologyĀ challenges.Ā

WhatĀ You’llĀ Be DoingĀ 

  • Interfacing withĀ Engineering Technology Group (ETG) departmentsĀ and program officesĀ interpretingĀ needsĀ into service-oriented requirementsĀ 

  • TranslatingĀ internal and externalĀ customerĀ needs intoĀ service offeringsĀ and architecturalĀ design patternsĀ 

  • Testing system patches against unique, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) configurations, resolving problems, and coordinatingĀ installationsĀ 

  • IntegratingĀ IT (SW and HW) services acrossĀ mission enterpriseĀ 

  • Implementing mission-focusedĀ servicesĀ 

  • Maintaining operations of platform services and software services in support of unique engineering system environments (i.e., HIL, raspberry pi, etc.)Ā Providing Tier 3 administration on uniqueĀ engineeringĀ system configurationsĀ (i.e., HIL, raspberry pi, etc.)Ā 

  • RepresentingĀ internal (ETG and program office)Ā customersĀ as a liaison withĀ service providers

What You Need to be SuccessfulĀ 

MinimumĀ RequirementsĀ forĀ IT InfrastructureĀ Systems Architect.Ā 

  • Bachelor’sĀ degreeĀ inĀ technology-relatedĀ disciplineĀ (i.e., Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, etc.)Ā 

  • EightĀ (8)Ā years of experience inĀ ITĀ Systems Administration, ITĀ Infrastructure,Ā and/orĀ IT Systems ArchitectureĀ 

  • DemonstratedĀ expertiseĀ in Windows and/orĀ LinuxĀ 

  • StrongĀ analytical,Ā problem solving, and advanced trouble shooting skillsĀ acrossĀ anĀ enterpriseĀ ITĀ environment.Ā 

  • Proven abilityĀ designing and integratingĀ patch managementĀ strategies with compliance requirementsĀ 

  • Experience integrating securityĀ principlesĀ intoĀ ITĀ architectureĀ (i.e.,Ā Zero-Trust Architecture, firewalls,Ā networkĀ segmentation,Ā compliance testing,Ā etc.)Ā 

  • This position requiresĀ ability to obtain aĀ DoD SecretĀ security clearance,Ā which is issued by the U.S.Ā government. U.S.Ā citizenship isĀ requiredĀ to obtain a security clearance.Ā The position has the potential of TS/SCI submission and polygraph.Ā

How You Can Stand OutĀ 

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:Ā 

  • Master’sĀ orĀ PhD degree inĀ IT-related discipline (i.e., Computer Science,Ā Information Technology,Ā Cybersecurity, Data Analytics,Ā Technology Management, etc.)Ā 

  • Experience with virtualization (i.e., VMWare, Hyper-V, Xen, KVM, etc.)Ā 

  • Knowledge of ā€œcloud nativeā€ technologies (CNCF Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift, SUSE Rancher, etc.)Ā 

  • KnowledgeĀ certification in one or moreĀ commercial cloud technologies (i.e., AWS, Azure,Ā GCP, etc.)Ā 

  • Experience configuring a software-defined network (SDN) or software-defined access (SDA)Ā 

  • Cybersecurity certifications (i.e.,Ā CompTIA A+, Cisco’s CCNAĀ 

  • Experience with workflow automation andĀ understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC)Ā conceptsĀ and security checksĀ 

  • Understanding of ITIL® frameworkĀ
