Job DetailsJob Location: 340 HWY 68 - SAN JUAN PUEBLO, NM 87566Position Type: Full TimePOSITION SUMMARY:   The Retail Manager shall be responsible for assisting in the efficient and orderly management of the four (4) retail stores [Travel Marketplace/Eagle/Express/1680 Travel Co]. The incumbent shall oversee the cashier clerks and maintenance technicians while operating the retail stores in accordance with the Companies Policy’s, procedures and objectives.   JOB REQUIREMENTS:   The Retail Manager will participate in interviewing, hiring, and motivating employees. Participate in training and developing subordinate employees according to Company policies and objectives. During the Director of Retail absence, ensure all shifts are properly staffed including emergencies and employee absences. Answer employees’ questions pertaining to operational procedures for store. Discuss, investigate and attempt to resolve any customer complaints with the intention of providing customer service. Assist in evaluating employee performance and recommend wage reviews in accordance with the Company wage and salary practices. Ensure employees understand established safety rules and carry out their duties in a safe and efficient manner. QualificationsEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:   High School graduate with any combination of college education and work experience related to retail management equivalent to two (2) years.   SKILLS:   Thorough understanding of systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Organized with attention to detail. Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.  Knowledge of administrative and supervisory techniques. Ability to manage an enterprise, including enterprise goals and priorities, procedures and guidelines, personnel, and fiscal activities. Exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and taking effective action. Present ideas effectively both orally and written.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, and TASKS include the following and are to be performed within the company’s policies and procedures. Additional duties may be assigned:   The incumbent shall assist the Director of Retail in overseeing day-to-day sales of the four (4) Retail Stores. The Retail Manager shall assist the Director of Retail with ensuring the daily sales and expense reports are provided to the corporate accounting staff along with verified copies of bank deposit slips and all supporting documents. Review and evaluate shift reports daily to verify the accuracy of the reports. Compare and cross check all reports daily to verify the accuracy, consistency, and proper supporting documentation. Analyze all reports to identify sales trends, unusual shift activity and potential problems. Investigate and inform the Director of Retail of any problems discovered in the report analysis Effectively and creatively display merchandise to maximize sales. Ensure the price of all merchandise is clear, legible and accurate. Ensure proper markdown and write off procedures are followed on all damaged, old and unmarketable merchandise. Ensure the shelves are clean, blocked and always stocked. Efficiently organize storerooms and cool stock reserves. Ensure products such as soft drinks, hot chocolate, coffee and hot snacks are fresh and ready to serve. Assist in ordering retail products including the ordering of necessary store supplies. Participate in monitoring vendor activities to ensure proper check-in procedures are followed, correct amounts are delivered, proper wholesale pricing is used, and proper credits are given to the store and company accounts. Ensure vendors are prompt with deliveries. Resolve any vendor problems with the individual vendor, vendor’s supervisor or discuss the problem with higher Company management, as appropriate. Ensure appropriate records are maintained regarding inventory and regarding daily statistical and financial reports. Ensure employees understand and apply proper selling techniques. Assist the Director of Retail in developing a work schedule for employees each week, considering shift sales and work levels, seasonal fluctuations, relative abilities of employees, holidays, promotions and monitor compliance with the schedule. Ensure windows, floors, counters, gas pumps and equipment are always clean, and the exterior of the store is neat and presentable.
