Direct Support Professionals care for and support adults with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities in a daytime program environment. Working with a team, DSPs in a day habilitation setting support people served with daily living skills, personalized goals, arts and crafts, sensory activities, and accompany on outings in the community.

WHAT WOULD I BE DOING?
- Provides daily support and care to people with developmental, intellectual and/or physical disabilities, with daily living skills and other needs.
- Assists with planning daily activities and participating in small group activities.
- Encourage additional skill development in exciting community activity options.
- Utilize agency vehicles for community-based activities.
- Overall Assists with choice-making and encouraging independence.
- Assist with dining needs, including celebrating holidays and other special events
- Working in a team environment.
- Enjoying the opportunity to support others with achieving their personal goals.
- Documents all services accurately and timely.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A DSP:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
- Valid NYS driver's license with a safe driving record
- Excellent communication skills.
- Has a willingness to learn new skills (we provide paid training).
- Having a great sense of humor and willingness to be flexible is greatly beneficial!
- Possesses computer skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
