Job DetailsLevel: EntryJob Location: Elgin, IL 60120Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolSalary Range: $19.23 - $25.00 HourlyJob Shift: DayJob Category: Health CareJob Title:                 Dental Sterilization Technician (P110)             Department:            Clinical Reports To:             Clinical Operations Manager Prepared By:           Clinical Director Prepared Date:       July 2024; March 2026     SUMMARY The primary purpose of this position is to perform maintenance and sterilization of dental instruments, follow Infection Control guidelines while utilizing the autoclave, and maintain organization within the Dental Lab.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.   Responsible for sterilization of instruments and maintenance of equipment. Performs and documents setup, stocking, maintenance, and cleaning of lab areas.   Follows all IC policies and procedures during the sterilization process.   Monitors results of biological indicators and documents results BI in log.   Ensures compliance with quality assurance and risk management standards.   Labels all instrument pouches according to policies and procedures.   Performs and documents daily, weekly, and monthly autoclave maintenance.   Communicates any equipment failures to supervisor and takes appropriate action.   Report to all scheduled work sites and shifts on time and fully prepared to engage in all job responsibilities; location of work sites and shifts will change at the discretion of the supervisor.   Engage in all offered training, consultations and supervisions made available.  Follow and fully implement Corporate Compliance Program.  Fully and professionally respond to and implement directives and advice offered by all supervisory and training personnel, as well as professionally offered feedback from coworkers.   Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.     EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED Certificate Graduate of accredited CNA Program Minimum of six months related experience and/or training is preferred Knowledge of laboratory and other procedures performed in an outpatient setting.     LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to respond to questions in a clear manner and communicate with Dental Assistants, Providers, and supervisors. Ability to effectively present information to Leadership Team, and public groups.     MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.     REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.     JOB KNOWLEDGE Ability to use technical skills and apply knowledge necessary for this position.     QUALITY Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness while performing the duties of the position       SAFETY AND INFECTION CONTROL Be knowledgeable about and follow Greater Family Health’s safety/infection control policies and procedures.     CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Current BLS Certification Current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification     OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of medical terminology; basic clinical and laboratory skills is essential. Ability to work flexible schedule including early morning and late evening hours. Ability to work Saturday and Sunday health center hours.
