The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports manufacturing operations by assisting with equipment troubleshooting, process improvements, test systems, tooling, documentation, and day-to-day production support. This role works closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Test and Automation Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity across the facility.

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will report directly to the Senior Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Support

  • Support daily manufacturing operations by troubleshooting production equipment, fixtures, tooling, and test systems.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers with process development, process improvements, and production issue resolution.
  • Help identify root causes of manufacturing problems and support corrective actions.
  • Provide hands-on support to production teams to reduce downtime and improve process consistency.
  • Assist with setup, adjustment, and validation of production equipment and workstations.
  • Assist with new and difficult builds. 
  • Train new operators if needed on how to build.

Equipment, Tooling, and Test Support

  • Support the installation, startup, and debug of new manufacturing equipment, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance activities, equipment checks, and basic repairs.
  • Support test stands, automation systems, sensors, controls, and data collection equipment as needed.
  • Work with engineering and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and reduce recurring failures.
  • Help document equipment issues, repairs, changes, and improvement activities.

Process Improvement

  • Support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, cost reduction, labor efficiency, and throughput.
  • Assist with time studies, process observations, and data collection.
  • Help implement Lean manufacturing practices, 5S improvements, and standard work.
  • Participate in root cause analysis, corrective action activities, and process reviews.
  • Recommend practical improvements to tooling, fixtures, work instructions, and production flow.

Documentation and Training

  • Create and update work instructions, setup sheets, troubleshooting guides, and maintenance procedures.
  • Assist with documenting manufacturing processes, equipment settings, and best practices.
  • Support training of operators, technicians, and team leads on new or updated processes.
  • Help ensure documentation is accurate, controlled, and aligned with current production practices.

Quality and Safety

  • Support quality investigations related to manufacturing defects, test failures, rework, scrap, and customer returns.
  • Assist in validating process changes to ensure product quality and repeatability.
  • Follow all company safety policies and support a safe working environment.
  • Identify and communicate safety concerns related to equipment, tooling, fixtures, and production processes.
  • Support corrective actions related to safety, quality, and production issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.  Equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, test, or technical support environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using hand tools, measuring equipment, and basic diagnostic tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with operators, engineers, maintenance, and quality personnel.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting automated equipment, production test systems, fixtures, or machine controls.
  • Experience with sensors, pneumatics, motors, PLCs, robotics, or data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, 5S, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
  • Experience creating or updating work instructions and technical documentation.
  • Experience in an ISO-certified or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Basic CAD, LabVIEW, PLC, or programming experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work around production equipment
  • Comfortable with lifting up to 35 pounds as needed
  • Capable of using hand tools, measuring devices, and shop equipment
  • Must be able to follow all required safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment

Work Environment

This position will work primarily in a manufacturing and engineering support environment. The role requires regular interaction with production equipment, operators, maintenance personnel, engineers, and quality teams. Some work may require supporting production issues on the manufacturing floor with a sense of urgency.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Senior Engineering Manager.
