Position Summary:
The Test Scheduler Intern is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in healthcare administration, patient scheduling, and diagnostic service coordination within a nonprofit community healthcare organization. This role provides practical training and work experience while supporting the scheduling and coordination of patient testing services and administrative operations in a healthcare setting.
The intern will work closely with scheduling staff, clinical teams, and providers to learn appointment coordination processes, patient communication, and healthcare office procedures. No prior healthcare experience is required; training will be provided.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with scheduling diagnostic tests, procedures, and patient appointments
- Help coordinate testing appointments with patients, providers, and outside facilities as needed
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a professional manner
- Provide patients with appointment instructions and scheduling information
- Assist with maintaining accurate scheduling records and documentation
- Support scanning, filing, and electronic document management tasks
- Help monitor appointment schedules and communicate changes or updates
- Respond professionally to patient questions and requests
- Assist with data entry and general administrative support duties
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and professional development opportunities
- Perform other administrative and patient support duties as assigned

Qualifications

- Basic computer and keyboarding skills

Physical Demands:
