Summary/Objective:

As a Material Handler, you will play a vital role in the movement and organization of materials within the facility. The ideal candidate will have experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work collaboratively with the production team.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily working indoors in a manufacturing environment.
  • May sit/stand for 8 or more hours at a time.
  • Prolonged exposure to noise, machinery, forklifts, metal shavings, and slick floors.
  • Repetitive use of hands.
  • Regular use of power lift trucks with prior certification.

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Safely operate forklifts to transport materials, components, and finished products within the facility.
  2. Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper placement and securing of materials.
  3. Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records by tracking the movement of materials using the forklift. 
  4. Work closely with the warehouse and production teams to ensure timely and accurate material flow.
  5. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines for forklift operation.
  6. Conduct pre-use inspections on forklifts and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
  7. Organize materials in designated storage areas for easy access and retrieval.
  8. Collaborate with production supervisors to prioritize material movement based on production schedules.
  9. Effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate material handling activities.
  10. Report any discrepancies or issues related to materials promptly.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.  

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time hourly position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and the direct supervisor. 

Travel:

No travel is required for this position.

Requirements

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. The team member is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling objects that are 50 pounds. The team member may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience as a Forklift Operator in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  2. Valid forklift operator certification.
  3. Knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to forklift operation.
  4. Ability to operate various types of forklifts, including sit-down and stand-up models.
  5. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  6. Ability to lift and move heavy materials as required.
  7. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  8. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and production schedules.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

Must be able to pass E-Verify.
