Prep Cook - Maverick Casino & Hotel Elko

 
 

The Prep Cook assists the chefs in the preparation and service of menu items and performs a number of kitchen activities including pot washing, dish washing, general cleaning duties, and storing food and non-food supplies. Works between both Maverick Casino & Hotel and Gold Country Inn & Casino.

 
 

Pay Range: $16-$19 /hr DOE

*Housing options available after 90 days*

 
 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Assist chefs in preparation and service of various foods in assigned workstations including pantry items, salads, soups, sauces, and with pre-preparation of ingredients for entrees.

· Stock the hot buffet unit for meal service.

· Store and properly handle raw or prepared foods and non-food supplies.

· Operate dish washing equipment and wash dishes and pots.

· Empty trash cans as required.

· Clean and sanitize production equipment, work surfaces and kitchen according to cleaning schedules and procedures.

· Follow proper food handling techniques and coordinate the use of time, material and equipment to avoid waste and unnecessary expense.

· Perform related and/or other duties as required.

Requirements

  

· Previous prep or line cook experience (6 months).

· Knowledge of cooking procedures and kitchen equipment.

· Knowledge of safety rules for kitchen equipment.

· Maintain safety in a high-pace and hot environment.

· Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.

· Ability to prioritize and organize, uses time efficiently.

· Must be able to communicate clearly with Chefs, kitchen and dining room personnel.

· Actively promote and personally observe safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly.

· Must be able to work unsupervised.

· Outgoing personality, positive attitude, strong communication skills, and pleasant clean appearance.

· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

· Ability to prepare food according to food handler’s guidelines.

 
 

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position typically works variety of shifts, including weekend and holidays. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
