Position Overview

A Maintenance Technician - Electrical is responsible for performing skilled electrical work including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. This role ensures safe and reliable operation of machinery, power distribution, control systems, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) by following electrical codes, technical drawings, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair.    
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues in machinery, control panels, wiring systems, and PLCs to ensure minimal downtime and reliable operation
  • Repair or replace defective wiring, equipment, and components using hand tools, power tools, and testing devices.
  • Install electrical wiring, fixtures, and control systems in accordance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and blueprints.
  • Maintain electrical systems including motors, control panels, lighting, and power distribution to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Program and modify PLCs and automated control systems to improve process efficiency and equipment functionality.
  • Document all electrical maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, time spent, and work performed, in compliance with company procedures.

Qualifications

  • Vocational or Technical training as Electrician Required. 
  • 3-5 Years Relevant Experience Required. 
  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field PLC Preferred.
  • Basic PLC and motor control knowledge Required
  • Programming Certification Preferred.
  • OSHA 10/OSHA 30 Preferred.
  • NFPA 70E Certification Preferred.
  • Skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and/or other web-based applications.  May produce complex documents, perform analysis, and maintain databases.
  • Advanced knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting Preferred
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial plant environment Preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Demand

  • Physical ability to perform electrical tasks.
  • Regular sitting, standing, walking and keyboard Usage .
  • Visual, sensory and auditory acuity.
  • Work requires periods of close attention to work without interruption. Concentrated effort of up to 4 hours without break may be required.
  • Work routine is consistent, but employees need to be able to use judgment to respond to events several times a week.
  • Potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Regular exposure to environmental conditions. 
  • Requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.  Job is physical in nature and employees need to stand and/or move around through most of their shift.
