Summary:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring a product or component meets the established standards of quality including performance reliability, usability and performance. Verifying quality standards in accordance with the requirements of the organization. Communicate effectively within all levels and across functions of organization to discuss and resolve quality issues in a timely manner. Support and drive effective problem solving to improve manufacturing yield performance.


Responsibilities:

  • Identify and help resolve non-conforming product issues
  • Monitor production operations for compliance with specifications and promptly report defects
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship by using only approved data, materials, tools and test equipment
  • Utilize gauges, tools, and equipment to complete in-depth assessments
  • Inspect outbound shipments and conduct the random sampling to ensure product quality
  • Perform preliminary, in progress, hidden damage and final product inspections
  • Evaluate incoming quality, in-process quality and outgoing quality for compliance with standards
  • Routinely check measuring equipment to resolve testing problems and perform maintenance
  • Identify defects during daily checks
  • Discard and reject products, materials and equipment that did not meet specifications
  • Correspond with clients through email, telephone, or postal mail
  • Complete precise measurements using special tools
  • Perform visual inspections and non-destructive tests where appropriate
  • Reject defective products and approve correct products
  • Keep work environments safe and efficient at all times
  • Support the company in maintaining a work environment focused on quality, communication, collaboration, integration, and teamwork
  • Control and care of quality inspector’s goals
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering required (prefer in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing)
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, presentation
  • Critical thinking and an analytical approach to problem solving
  • Able to work flexible hours occasionally to support team
  • A positive, dedicated attitude and demonstrated effectiveness 


Experience:

  • Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role in an automotive manufacturing environment including internship or co-operation
  • Hi-volume production, control plans, PFMEAs, and process controls preferred
  • Knowledge of IATF16949 and ISO16232 standards
  • Report writing in Microsoft Powerpoint and graphical analysis in Minitab 
  • Understanding of materials characterization and analytical methods are strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with a variety of sample preparation methods including sputtering, polishing and mounting
  • Elemental or compositional analysis using EDS, LIBS or similar methods such as XRF, FTIR etc.
  • Non-destructive testing experience using CT or other x-ray/tomography methods
  • CAD/3D voxel graphics knowledge are a plus


Work Authorization:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship


Skills:

  • Capability to use MS-office and Minitab programs, six sigma, 8D problem solving
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports, statements and projections
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of a variety of laboratory equipment
  • Creating, editing and maintaining SOPs for a variety of laboratory tasks and processes
  • Learning and training others on a variety of analytical and laboratory equipment

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform the following activities repeatedly for periods of up to 12 hours:

  • Must be able to properly and continuously wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, and nitrile gloves for the entirety of a 12-hour shift.
  • Lift, push, pull, and move materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Stand, walk, crouch, kneel, stoop, and reach overhead as required to perform maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Sit or stand for extended periods and navigate safely throughout manufacturing and production areas.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, computers, and diagnostic devices


Work Environment:

  • Work is performed within a manufacturing facility and may include office, production, utility, maintenance, laboratory, and operational environments
  • Frequent interaction with production and manufacturing equipment, automated systems, robotics, conveyors, and industrial machinery
  • Exposure to noise, vibration, moving mechanical equipment, elevated temperatures, dust, and manufacturing-related hazards may occur
  • Work may involve handling or working in proximity to industrial chemicals, regulated materials, and battery manufacturing processes
  • Strict adherence to company safety policies, PPE requirements, machine safety protocols, and Lockout/Tagout procedures is mandatory
  • May require occasional support during equipment installations, maintenance activities, production trials, shutdowns, or operational emergencies
  • Flexibility in work hours may be required to support production operations, equipment troubleshooting, and project implementation activities
