The Medication Technician is responsible for safely and accurately administering medications to residents in accordance with state regulations, community policies, and physician orders. This role plays a key part in supporting residents’ health and well-being by ensuring medications are given correctly and by monitoring for any changes in condition. The Med Tech also assists with daily care tasks and fosters a compassionate, respectful living environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Medication Administration
- Prepare, administer, and document medications in compliance with physician orders and community policy.
- Verify correct medication, dosage, resident, time, and route before administration.
- Maintain accurate and complete medication administration records (MARs).
- Report and document any medication errors, side effects, or refusals promptly.
- Refill and reorder medications as needed in coordination with the pharmacy and nursing staff.
Resident Care and Support
- Observe residents for changes in physical, mental, or emotional condition and report to supervising nurse or manager.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, dressing, or ambulation when needed.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, promoting dignity and positive engagement.
Qualifications
- Active Medication Technician License on Maryland Board of Nursing
- 6 months of experience
Salary: $18.00 per hour
