Sovereign Consulting Inc., an established mid-size environmental consulting/ General Contracting firm seeking a highly experienced Senior Health Physicist to join our team of skilled Radiation Safety and Health Physics professionals. The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of experience in site remediation, MARSSIM (Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual), regulatory compliance, radiation program management, project supervision and marketing. This position requires a thorough knowledge of health physics, NRC and EPA regulations, statistical methods and modelling programs, and guidance related to site decommissioning and TENORM. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and writing skills and the ability to manage radiation program staff and complex projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee site remediation projects, ensuring compliance with State and federal regulations and MARSSIM guidelines.
  • Develop and implement radiation safety programs and procedures.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Supervise and mentor junior health physicists and project teams.
  • Conduct radiation surveys and site assessments using industry standard statistical software tools and modeling.
  • Prepare technically sound and defensible work proposals, technical reports and documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure project goals are well defined and met.
  • Provide expert health physics advice for facility and site regulatory compliance during investigations and program planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field (Master's degree or Certification by the American Board of Health Physics (ABHP) is preferred).
  • 10-15 years of experience in health physics, with a focus on site remediation and MARSSIM.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance and radiation safety standards.
  • Proven experience in radiation program management and project supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Certification by the American Board of Health Physics (ABHP) is not required but preferred.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
