Weinberg Commons, a department of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey is seeking Direct Support Professionals for our Residential Program for full time and part time positions.

Specific Responsibilities:


  1. Provide direct support to individuals by assisting with development of independence skills based on the need of each individual. 
  2. Assists to the extent needed by the individual in all daily living skills.
  3. Advocates for the individual including fostering healthy relationships with peers and staff.
  4. Communicate effectively and efficiently with guardians, parents and support personnel based on needs of the individuals.
  5. Administers medication and completes documentation of same.
  6. Transports individuals to and from medical appointments and documents all information from appointments. 
  7. Assists the individuals in developing a support network within the community.
  8. Assists individuals with identifying and/or accompanying them to social and recreational activities within the community. 
  9. As needed, will transport individuals to appointments, shopping and other activities
  10. Accurately completes all mandatory in-house documentation.
  11. Participates in IDT meetings for personal future planning as requested.
  12. Completes all duties as delegated by the Residential Manager/Director, Residential Services.
  13. Must successfully complete and demonstrate proficiency in all areas of required training.
  14. Perform any and all duties requested of supervisors.
  15. Will cooperate with the licensee and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation.

 

 

Requirements: 


  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Valid Driver’s license in the State of New Jersey.  
  • Shall be at least 18 years of age or older. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with written and oral language.
  • Submit to a criminal background check and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to hire.
  • Agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
  • Shall submit to drug testing and receive a clear drug screen prior to employment per Stephen Komninos Law.
  • Shall submit to drug testing conducted randomly and for cause.
  • Shall complete an application to have their name checked against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI). 
  • Demonstrate an understanding of inclusion, compassion and has the ability to problem solve with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.  
  • Must cooperate with the licensee and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation.
  • Fully vaccinated for Covid -19 based on CDC requirements and DHS requirements.
