We currently have a great opportunity for Technical Specialist Engineer - Polymers, Plastics on our TRATON USA’s R&D Team.

 

We are seeking a Technical Specialist Engineer with Polymers/Plastics experience who will advise the materials engineering (ME) team in the Product Development Process specifically providing core competencies and activities in terms of: Material selection / recommendations for new products, Performing Root Cause Failure Analysis in cases of product issues, Quality Assurance; polymer testing requirements, metrology, environmental resilience evaluation and Drawing Approvals.

 

  • Industry Experience working with Polymers; Plastics, Elastomers or Composites required.  Sealing and or seal design experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Technical leadership in the core area of responsibility for the material laboratories and team through leadership and coaching.
  • Maintaining the company library and reference materials for polymers (software, databases, FEA Material Models, etc.).
  • Applying knowledge of material science to supply technical support to engineering, innovation, manufacturing, marketing, outside services, and vendors.
  • Contribute to internal material queries and materials research projects; perform failure analysis, answering chemical compatibility questions and issues.
  • Evolving Material engineering procedures and specifications in area of responsibility
  • Leading projects and programs involving quality control and cost savings.
  • Supporting development of the Material database, material engineering specifications, procedures, and standards for all of International Motors LLC.
  • Driving the full integration of the ME team in Product Engineering Organization, especially for the upfront phases of product development through the proactive participation to the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), PFMEA (Process FMEA) and DVP (Design Validation Plan) definition.
  • Domestic and International travel is required 10% of the time.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 9 years of product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

OR

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 5 years of product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

OR

  • PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 3 years of product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills
