Position Highlights:

  • Location: Elmhurst Hospital 155 E. Brush Hill Road Elmhurst, IL.
  • Full Time: 1.0 FTE
  • Hours: Monday-Friday; 8am-4:30pm

A Brief Overview:
This position will oversee Microbiology, Molecular, and Pathology at Edward Hospital (Naperville) and Elmhurst Hospital (Elmhurst). As the Manager, Laboratory, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of the laboratory staff and operations. You will play a crucial role in maintaining quality control, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a collaborative work environment within the laboratory.

What you will do:

  • Supervising and leading a team of Laboratory Technologists, Technicians, and Assistants.
  • Providing guidance, training, and mentorship to staff, promoting professional growth and development.
  • Overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory, including specimen processing, testing, and reporting.
  • Monitoring workflow and ensuring efficient and timely testing and reporting.
  • Implementing and maintaining a robust quality control program to ensure accurate and reliable laboratory results.
  • Participating in proficiency testing and proficiency survey programs.
  • Ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission).
  • Collaborating with the Director, Laboratory, to address regulatory issues and implement necessary changes.
  • Managing laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment inventory.
  • Monitoring usage, reorder supplies as needed, and maintaining proper storage.
  • Coordinating the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Troubleshooting equipment issues and initiating repairs as necessary.
  • Analyzing laboratory data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Preparing and presenting reports on laboratory performance to hospital leadership.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 5+ Years experience in a clinical laboratory or hospital setting required.
  • 1 Year supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
