Senior Salesforce Developer
Only candidates local to the Chicagoland area will be considered
Hybrid: In Office Every Thursday in Elmhurst, IL Required
The Senior Salesforce Engineer will spend most of their time writing code and be responsible for developing, maintaining, and modernizing an established Salesforce platform supporting live logistics operations. They will work across Lightning Web Components, Aura Components, Visualforce, and Apex Components, confidently navigating complex architectures and tracing issues from the user interface through Apex and integration layers while ensuring reliability and data integrity.
- Core Custom Apps & UI: Build and modernize internal tools used by operations and dispatch. You will deliver new capabilities in Lightning Web Components (LWC) while strategically refactoring legacy Aura Components and Visualforce pages into modern patterns.
- Integrations & APIs: Design, build, and maintain high-throughput integrations. We both consume external services and expose custom Apex REST endpoints for internal systems.
- Automation & Async Processing: Own business-critical Batch, Queueable, and Schedulable Apex jobs. You will ensure jobs run cleanly within governor limits, implement robust retry/error-handling patterns, and guide the migration of legacy automations to Flow or modern Apex.
- Data Architecture & Complex Sharing: Build scalable data models and manage a granular record visibility architecture (Apex Managed Sharing, programmatic sharing rules, and performance tuning at scale).
- Engineering Standards & Modern Tooling: Learn and utilize existing practices across CI/CD, branching strategies, and automated testing. You will help evaluate and safely integrate modern developer tooling (including AI coding assistants and Salesforce platform features like Agentforce and Prompt Builder where they deliver genuine value)
- Write real tests: Build comprehensive unit tests with meaningful assertions and robust mock frameworks.
- Ship with discipline: Use modern Git-based workflows, automated validation, and peer code reviews
- Balance code vs. configuration: Choose Salesforce Flow and native configuration when it is the right architectural tool, and use Apex when performance, scale, or maintainability demands it.
- Own production reliability: Diagnose debug logs, governor limit exceptions, and integration timeouts to fix root causes rather than symptoms.
- Partner with the business: Collaborate directly with technical leads, BAs, and stakeholders to translate operational needs into scalable technical designs with the ability to push back constructively when a proposed approach will not scale
Skills for Success
- 5+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience, with the vast majority of that time spent writing Apex, building custom UI, and architecting solutions.
- Required Certification: Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I
- Preferred Certification: Salesforce Certified Platform Developer II, Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder, or Salesforce Certified System / Application Architect credentials.
- Deep Apex & Data Modeling Expertise: Advanced SOQL/SOSL, enterprise trigger handler frameworks, bulkification patterns, and asynchronous design (Batchable, Queueable, Schedulable)
- Integration Engineering: Proven track record building and maintaining custom REST integrations on both sides (inbound and outbound), including Named Credentials, complex JSON/XML serialization, authentication protocols (OAuth 2.0), and fault-tolerant error handling
- Full-Stack Salesforce UI: Extensive experience in Lightning Web Components (LWC), along with the practical fluency to read, maintain, and refactor legacy Aura Components and Visualforce.
- Security & Performance at Scale: Thorough mastery of Salesforce sharing architecture, record-level security, Large Data Volumes (LDV), and CPU/heap governor limit optimization.
- Modern Development Tooling: Git-based branch workflows, Salesforce CLI (sf), metadata/source format deployments, and resolving merge/deployment conflicts.
- Strong Communication: Clear technical writing ability for documentation, pull requests, and architectural discussions.
- Experience safely introducing developer productivity tools (AI-assisted coding, IDE tooling) and exploring Salesforce AI features (Agentforce, Prompt Builder).
- Familiarity with healthcare/HIPAA compliance, PHI access controls, or logistics/transportation operations.
