Position Summary:

 

Monday through Friday, plant-to-plant, local CDL driver position involving the daily and safe transportation of goods between a company's own facilities. This role offers a consistent, daytime schedule with drivers returning home at the end of each shift. 

 

What will you do?

 Responsible for operating Monday – Friday, 8am-4pm (may vary slightly with workload)

  • Operating commercial vehicles: Safely and efficiently operate a commercial vehicle, such as a tractor-trailer or box truck, between company plants or distribution centers.
  • Inspecting vehicles: Conduct and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections (DVIRs) of the vehicle and equipment to ensure safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Loading and unloading freight: Assist with or manage the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring cargo is properly secured and arranged to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
  • Maintaining records: Complete and maintain accurate trip logs or other required paperwork, to track hours of service (HOS).
  • Adhering to regulations: Comply with all local, state, and federal transportation laws and safety regulations, including HOS rules.
  • Communicating with plant and warehouse: Stay in regular contact with plant or warehouse staff to report progress, delays, or mechanical issues.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds.
  • Drivers will be exposed to outdoor or industrial environments while loading and unloading.
  • They must be physically able to sit for extended periods while driving.

 

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Commercial Driver's License.
  • 5 years’ experience with a standard tractor and 53’ foot trailers, dock to dock.
  • Clean driving record: A history free of major moving violations or incidents.
  • Physical fitness: The ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs. or more.
  • Excellent driving skills: Possess a strong understanding of vehicle operation and safe driving techniques, particularly for maneuvering large vehicles.
  • Attention to detail: Meticulousness is needed for conducting vehicle inspections, securing cargo, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Time management skills: The ability to follow a schedule and complete daily routes efficiently is crucial.
  • Adaptability: Drivers must be able to adapt to changing weather and road conditions.

Comp Range: $75k-$78k
