As a Registered Nurse you will work on our remodeled 24-bed unit where teamwork and exceptional patient care are at the heart of everything we do. On 5D you'll care for a diverse patient population, including cardiac, respiratory, mental health, and general medical cases. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients with a variety of needs. Use a person-centered care approach in the development of care, and effectively prioritize patient needs that are both expected and unanticipated.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills to interact with other health care professional and patients.
  • Demonstrate competence and resourcefulness in the implementation of the technical skills required to care for the patient. Demonstrates initiative in remaining current in the organization and department policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care giving, shows follow through on delivery, demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, proactively addresses actual and potential problems, and executing compliant clinical documentation.
  • Assist with educating patients and families and serves as a resource on department standards for patient care.
  • This is a full-time position with weekend and holiday rotation required.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Current NYS Registered Nursing
  • 1 year RN experience preferred: Graduated Nurses welcome to apply
  • Must obtain BLS and ACLS certification prior to completion of the introductory period.

Physical Demands:

  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
