Job Summary: 

The Shipping Clerk will perform a variety of routine shipping, receiving, production and housekeeping tasks. Shipping tasks include loading truck shipment, picking, packaging and shipment of orders. Receiving tasks include unloading truck shipments, stocking the warehouse shelves and complete inbound receiving paperwork. 



Responsibilities and Duties: 

 

Shipping 

  • Prepare orders for shipment in accordance with the sales order acknowledgment and customer requirements
  • Check inventory to verify availability of needed stock
  • Notify the Lead Shipping and Receiving Associate of shortages
  • Package and ship in accordance with packaging guidelines and accepted methods/practices
  • Maintain product stock in work area
  • Stock shelves in the warehouse
  • Email or call carrier(s) for quotes for shipping based on best pricing
  • Request purchase order for freight charges and containers
  • Prepare shipments for UPS, Federal Express, DHL type parcel delivery companies
  • Operate dolly, pallet jack, or forklift in loading and unloading material and equipment
  • Operate shrink wrap machine


Production Labeling & Packaging

  • Label and ship in accordance with packaging guidelines and accepted methods/practices
  • Maintain product stock in work area
  • Monitor labeling material supplies and notify Purchasing to request a purchase order
  • Organize work orders and verify they are correct with the item being labeled
  • Read sales orders and verify the material they are pulling for packaging matches the sales order
  • Verify all lot and serial numbers match the sales order
  • Adjust packing slip as required when the material is short, according to the sales order
  • Follow instructions and requests for custom accounts (how to be packed per box size and quantity per box)
  • Follow special instructions for applying outer box labels


All other duties as assigned


Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Basic Computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office products
  • Strong Attention to Detail and Communication Skills
  • Solid understanding of safe work practices and OSHA.
  • Ability to review, interpret, and evaluate company documents
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a professional disposition
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet time deadlines, and perform under pressure.
  • Ability to operate a forklift



Education and Experience: 

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Ability to effectively utilize an ERP system to manage business as well as assist co-workers and direct reports. 
  • Prior shipping and/or receiving experience preferred 
  • Previous experience with hand tools and material handling equipment preferred (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).

Physical Requirements: 

  • Able to perform regular bending, twisting, and lifting to shelve.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push and/or pull at times
