This is a temporary position and runs through for approximately six (6) months
DEFINITION: Under close supervision, performs routine, repetitive clerical work involving the processing of documents in a variety of functions; does other related duties as required.
NOTE: Incumbents may be required to utilize keyboard equipment to input and/or retrieve information on a computer console, typewriter or other key entry device used by the agency. Keyboarding/typing duties may or may not be assigned, depending on the needs of the employing agency. Incumbents are not expected to perform keyboarding/typing tasks with the speed and accuracy required of a Keyboarding Clerk.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:
- Reviews, verifies, and processes documents, applications, forms, and reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Receives, sorts, distributes, and processes incoming and outgoing mail.
- Maintains files and records using alphabetical, numerical, or other established filing systems.
- Provides routine information to employees and the public in person and by telephone; refers complex inquiries to appropriate staff.
- Enters and retrieves information using computer systems and other office equipment.
- Assists with preparing reports, compiling data, maintaining records, and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
- Assists with payroll, personnel, scheduling, office supply inventory, and other administrative support functions as assigned.
- Operates standard office equipment, including copiers, printers, scanners, calculators, fax machines, and other office machines.
- Performs routine clerical duties in support of various County departments and programs.
- Learns department-specific procedures and maintains accurate records in accordance with established policies.
LICENSE: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of general office procedures, practices, and equipment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize clerical work while maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to maintain organized filing and recordkeeping systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and the public.
- Ability to operate computers and standard office equipment.
- Ability to learn department-specific software, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
RATE: $16.50 per hour, 35 hours per week
