The Opportunity:


We are looking to hire a full-time Research Associate to keep our headquarters running smoothly and efficiently to support Arcadia’s scientific growth. The ideal candidate will have prior experience supporting the daily operations of a lab, be an enthusiastic team player willing to jump in wherever needed, and have hands-on experience working independently in a fast-paced setting. The Research Associate will join a team supporting laboratory operations, materials management, and shared infrastructure to ensure efficient, organized, and reproducible experimental workflows. This candidate will also work closely with the Lab Operations and Core Technologies teams to enable increased throughput and consistency of spectroscopy data collection, protein purification, and biorepository organism maintenance.

Laboratory Operations and Infrastructure Responsibilities
  • Supporting Lab Operations by coordinating with chemical waste, biohazardous waste, lab coats/rugs, and compressed gas vendors
  • Maintaining stocks of media/buffers/broths, etc.
  • Documenting and maintaining chemical inventory
  • Managing the dishwashing and sterilization of glassware as well as maintaining a lab stockroom
  • Manage daily incoming packages and receive them in our purchasing software
  • Supporting Office Operations and Facilities by being attentive to general building needs and on-site events
  • Other operational tasks for Arcadia as needed


Experimental Workflows Responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability and passion for executing workflows with precision while identifying sources of variability and refining SOPs
  • Raman spectroscopy data collection and standardization across a variety of sample types including: protists, proteins, and small molecules.
  • Protein purification by magnetic bead and quality assessment by ELISA and Western Blotting
  • Protist organism culture with aseptic technique and cryopreservation method development


Experience
  • 1+ years full-time of experience in lab setting
  • Knowledge of general facilities maintenance methods and safety precautions 
  • Ability to work effectively as a collaborative team member in a fast-paced laboratory environment
  • Experience maintaining detailed experimental records and documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to identify sources of experimental variability and improve workflow consistency
  • Hands on experience with at least one of the following: 
  • Fluorescence microscopy
  • Protein purification
  • Molecular cloning
  • Laboratory automation 
  • Cell culture
  • Experience operating and maintaining scientific instrumentation (e.g., spectroscopy, microscopy, plate readers, or similar analytical instruments) preferred
  • Familiarity with OSHA and other environmental regulations preferred
  • Able to lift 30lbs unassisted
