Maintenance Worker I (2nd Shift)

Job Description:

Perform all duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor/Manager/Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies deficiencies and deviations from maintenance schedules and standards and performs inspection and inspection test of equipment and buildings.
  • Performs general repairs/maintenance as well as minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Assists other mechanical maintenance tradesmen as directed.
  • May operate light or heavy equipment and maintain equipment and tools.
  • Assists with snow removal as needed.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Good hygiene and cleanliness are required at all times.
  • Must adhere to the company uniform policy.
  • Maintain a clean vehicle and make the office aware of maintenance issues.
  • Follow rules and regulations as described in the company handbook.

Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED and 0-3 years of experience required.
  • Ability to read, write and follow directions.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, heating/cooling and general repairs.
  • 3+ years of experience in a specific trade preferred (i.e., plumbing, electrical, etc.).
  • Must be familiar with and adhere to all the safety rules and regulations for the University Safety Policy which apply to the work environment.
  • ​Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy items up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to spend a significant amount of time outside in all weather conditions.
  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.

Salary/Hours/Benefits

  • Minimum Pay Rate: $15.00/hour
  • Full time - 40 hours per week/weekends.
  • (2nd Shift) Monday - Friday 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

  • Oversees and provides leadership to Office of Advising Peer Leaders (PLs) – desk hours, effective communication with peer leaders, events, and weekly interaction with PLs.  Active participant/leader at PL meetings.
  • Assists with planning and organizing Office of Advising events
  • Create and post flyers, promotional ads for Office of Advising and TAS
  • Assists with notetaking at Office of Advising meetings
  • Assists with Office of Advising Peer Leader trainings
  • Assists with First-Generation Student planning and programing
  • Assists with the delivery of activities and programs for Office of Advising peer leaders
  • Assists with the delivery of activities and programs for first-year students
  • Connect first-year students to campus resources
  • Work with Office of Advising to establish strategic, effective partnerships and work collaboratively with campus colleagues to support student success and retention initiatives
    • Confidentiality (retention data from Registrar’s Office).
  • Assists the Office of Advising with student intervention support
  • Participate in university events related to the Office of Advising involvement (Orientation, Admissions events)
  • Responsible for Office of Advising social media and writing social media data reports

Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Must be accepted into a graduate program at Mount St. Mary’s University.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
