The Family Support Worker for After Hours provides direct crisis management services outside of normal business hours. This position is also responsible for supervising assigned children/youth each night and assisting with ensuring their physical needs are met and arrive to and picked up from placement on time.


  • Provides direct services including, but not limited to, crisis management, de-escalation, parenting skills, and behavior management to children/youth and families.
  • Support case plan goals through teaching, role modeling, and demonstration through face-to-face interactions.
  • Develop short-term safety plans with children/youth and families to resolve crisis situations.
  • Works with community partners to access supports for children/youth and families during a time of crisis.
  • Frequent communication/coordination with After Hours Coordinator and Supervisor during crisis situations.
  • Supervises and transports children/youth and families, as needed and according to policy.
  • May assist with medication management and documentation for children/youth waiting for placement.
  • Documents information and completes all necessary Saint Francis Ministries forms according to timelines.
  • Supports foster families to maintain placements and help children/youth work toward permanency.
  • May monitor and supervise family interactions.
  • Travels throughout the state of Kansas to provide crisis management services to children/youth and families.
  • Work a flexible schedule after normal business hours to meet the needs of children/youth, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), rules, personnel policies, and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state, and local rules, statutes, regulations, and contractual terms.
  • Reports critical incidents to DCF according to policy.
  • Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.
  • Ensures clients’ rights are protected.
  • Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prefer 2 years’ experience working with children/youth and families.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a drug screen, MVR, KBI, Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance check and an Adult Registry check.
  • FBI Fingerprint check.
  • Lifting requirement of 50 lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.
