Description
Conval is the industry leader in Severe Service Valves, dedicated to providing the highest quality products with exceptional durability and longevity. We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Cost Accounting & Assistant Controller professional to support our financial operations and manufacturing cost analysis.
This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining accurate product costing for our valve manufacturing operations to ensure proper pricing, profitability analysis, and financial reporting. The position will also provide support to the Controller during month-end close and external/internal audit activities.
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Analysis
- Analyze and determine true manufacturing costs per valve, including labor, materials, overhead, and operational expensesÂ
- Evaluate production levels and inventory strategies to optimize manufacturing efficiency while minimizing excess or obsolete inventoryÂ
- Review and monitor product margins and profitabilityÂ
- Partner with operations, engineering, and purchasing teams to validate costing assumptionsÂ
- Partner closely with Sales to support pricing decisions based on accurate product costing and margin analysisÂ
- Identify high-margin products and provide insights to support strategic sales initiativesÂ
- Assist in monitoring inventory valuation, cost trends, and manufacturing variancesÂ
Financial & Accounting Support
- Cross-train with and provide backup support to the Controller during month-end close and financial reporting processesÂ
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedulesÂ
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial analysisÂ
- Assist with audits by preparing documentation and responding to requestsÂ
- Help maintain internal controls and accounting proceduresÂ
- Support inventory accounting and cycle count processesÂ
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldÂ
- 3–5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environmentÂ
- Experience with standard costing and inventory accounting requiredÂ
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsÂ
- Advanced Excel skills requiredÂ
- ERP system experience – Infor-Visual preferred
- AI/Codex experience a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skillsÂ
- Ability to communicate effectively across departmentsÂ
- Experience supporting audits and month-end close processes preferredÂ
Preferred Experience
- Manufacturing industry experienceÂ
- Experience with engineered products or industrial equipment manufacturingÂ
- Knowledge of BOMs (Bills of Materials), labor routings, and overhead allocation methodologiesÂ
