General Summary:
The Felician Sisters of North America is seeking a full-time Nurse Administrator in Enfield who will plan and oversee the day-to-day health services and nursing activities for our 20-bed Care Center with approximately 30 staff members.
This position ensures quality, person-centered resident care and adherence to facility policies, procedures, and standards and applicable governmental regulations. The successful candidate for our small Care Center will be excited to be a hands-on Nurse Administrator and work the floor on a regular basis. The Felician Sisters of North America are a Felician Franciscan community of sisters with central convents throughout North America. Our nursing staff provides high-quality, clinical care for our Sisters, many of whom are aging in place in their convent homes. Our Health Care Center nursing staff provides nursing care similar to a long-term care facility.
Responsibilities:
- Set and monitor achievement of goals for the Nursing Department consistent with established philosophy and standards of practice.
- Participate in the development of Nursing Service’s standards. Communicates and interprets standards to personnel.
- Responsible for meeting required department staffing ratios.
- Schedule, direct and document regular meetings with nursing staff.
- Provide in-service education sessions on a regular basis.
- Oversee Restorative, Wounds Prevention and Infection Control Programs.
- Assess resident care needs and assist in the individualized plans of resident care and make recommendations for specialized rehabilitation.
- Coordinate the daily functions of the nursing department and interacts with nursing staff, families and physicians.
- Assist with assessment of residents, including hospital visits for intake as appropriate. Prepare or supervises preparation of work assignments of unit staff.
- Make regular nursing rounds to review work in progress, evaluate resident care and handle routine nursing matters necessary to facilitate operations. Function as a resource for staff concerning resident care issues.
- Evaluate resident’s needs, condition and care and developing nursing care plans for individual residents including rehabilitative and restorative activities, and instruction in self-help. Periodically review care plans with resident’s physician and nursing team. Make referrals for spiritual and physiological/psychological needs to appropriate personnel.
- Assist with the investigation of complex resident care problems and assists staff in the analysis and resolution of such problems. Assist with the investigation and resolution of complaints from residents, family members and physicians through direct action/intervention or referral to appropriate supervisory/managerial personnel.
- Assists with the development, implementation, and monitoring of any plans of correction.
- Assist the Administrator with employee relations to include recruitment, orientation, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, terminations, job description updates, training, staff development and enforcement of policies and procedures
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in good standing required in the state of Connecticut or willingness to apply for licensure in the state of Connecticut.
- Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience in long-term care or similar health care environment required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a supervisory position required.
- Comprehensive supervisory experience including hiring, employee disciplines, performance evaluations, staff scheduling, staff engagement.
- Technical aptitude and proficient computer skills are vital.
