Velocity Constructors, Inc. is a Colorado-based, employee-owned (ESOP) general contractor specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure projects. From pump stations to treatment plants, we build systems that keep communities safe and running.

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the Project Manager and deliver projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role is designed for a motivated construction professional ready to take greater ownership of cost control, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and contract administration.

📋 Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager in overseeing all phases of project execution
  • Assist in managing project budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting
  • Review and administer contracts, subcontracts, and change orders
  • Prepare, track, and negotiate change order requests
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, and procurement schedules
  • Monitor project schedules and assist in updating timelines and recovery plans
  • Coordinate with Superintendents and field teams to ensure alignment between office and jobsite
  • Track and document project compliance requirements, including safety and environmental documentation
  • Assist with subcontractor buyout and vendor coordination
  • Participating in project meetings with clients, engineers, and subcontractors
  • Support monthly billing processes and documentation for pay applications
  • Assist with project closeout, warranties, and final documentation
  • Ensure projects are constructed in a safe manner.
  • Communicate with Superintendents daily and provide support as needed.
This role is primarily office-based with periodic site visits as required.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–4 years of construction project experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of cost control, scheduling, and contract administration
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and decision-making ability
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with scheduling software required
  • Experience with SAGE 100 Construction Management or similar ERP system preferred
  • Experience in water/wastewater or heavy civil infrastructure a strong plus
