Position Overview

Rothschild Downes is seeking a detail-oriented Design Technician to support our CAD & Design Services department to deliver high-quality design, documentation, and visualization assets across commercial real estate projects. This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional who excels at production support, file management, and quality control while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. The Design Technician plays a key role in maintaining RD design standards, ensuring accuracy, and helping projects move efficiently from concept through execution.

Key Responsibilities

CAD Production & Documentation 

  • Produce and update CAD drawings including lease plans, test fits, surveys, and architectural documentation under the direction of supervisor
  • Revise drawings based on redlines, markups, and project feedback while maintaining RD standards

Design & Visualization Support

  • Assist with preparation of renderings, visual packages, and presentation materials as directed
  • Support the development of design deliverables for internal and client-facing use

Quality Control & Standards Compliance

  • Perform quality checks on drawings for accuracy, formatting, layer management, and compliance with internal standards
  • Ensure consistency across CAD files, templates, and documentation

File Management & Organization

  • Maintain organized CAD files, project backgrounds, and template libraries
  • Support proper file naming, version control, and data management workflows

Project Coordination & Team Support

  • Coordinate with brokers, project managers, and internal teams to support timely delivery of design materials
  • Assist with site surveys, field verification, and documentation updates as needed

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Support internal CAD & Design Services initiatives, workflow improvements, and documentation updates
  • Follow established procedures and contribute to improving efficiency and accuracy within the CAD & Design Services team

Qualifications

  • Experience in production, architectural drafting, or design support roles
  • Associate’s degree or coursework in Architecture, Drafting, Design Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience supporting commercial real estate, architectural, or design services teams preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and quality assurance
  • Time management and task prioritization
  • Clear communication and ability to follow direction
  • Reliability and accountability
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Technical & Design Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit or BIM exposure a plus)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of lease plans, LODs/SLDs, and merchandising plans
  • Strong file management skills and familiarity with formatting and documentation standards
  • Experience with SAAS-based tracking or project management tools is a plus
  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, consistency, and compliance
