Remote: 2 days/wk remote with 3 days in office

Position Scope:


This position provides the opportunity to work in a unique and innovative technical environment for a highly successful international OEM of food-processing-equipment. Engineering team members work on a diverse range of complex machine designs while making improvements to existing equipment and developing new machinery and products. 


Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide mechanical engineering design, prototype build and test, and documentation creation of state-of-the-art new food machinery products.
  • Recommend and implement progressive improvements to machinery in the areas of design-for- manufacturing, cost, quality and performance.
  • Perform form, fit & function analysis for parts and assemblies. Convey proper design intent using Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing practices governed by ANSI Standard Y14.5.2.
  • Use standard engineering principals and design practices to make the necessary calculations, failure risk assessments and design drawing updates as required to meet customer safety requirements, ergonomic requirements and performance specifications. 
  • Use Solidworks to create complete documentation including part, sub-assembly and top-level assembly drawings and associated bill-of-materials of equipment.
  • Work seamlessly with Manufacturing, Sales, Service and Marketing to create new products and improve existing products. 
  • Work closely with Procurement to support second and third-party manufacturing requirements.
  • Work with Product Data Management (PDM) team to create manufacturing documentation and instruction manuals.
  • Work well with other Engineers to complete larger scale projects. At times function as a project team leader: organizing, assigning, and tracking task completion as needed.


Summary of Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering 
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience utilizing engineering principles in product design and/or related mechanical design work.
  • Design experience in sheet metal, weldments, machined metal, castings, and plastic parts.
  • Experience making mechanical part designs utilizing SolidWorks and/or a similar CAD package. 
  • Demonstrated skills in:
  • Effective self-management of tasks and schedules
  • Working well with other engineers to complete projects
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams
  • Hands on fabrication, assembly, and testing of new designs
  • Must be willing and able to travel occasionally (domestic and international)

*The pay range for this role is $106,000 - $127,000 annually. Salary information is a general guideline only.
