Upper School Testing Accommodations Coordinator

Department: Learning Support 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Learning Support, the Upper School Testing Accommodations Coordinator will manage and maintain school-wide testing accommodation information and oversee the planning, coordination, and daily operation of the Upper School Testing Center. This role ensures the consistent and compliant implementation of testing accommodations, supports students and families in understanding testing processes, and collaborates closely with faculty and Learning Specialists to maintain a structured, equitable, and academically rigorous testing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Testing Accommodations Management

  • Manage and maintain school-wide testing accommodation information.

  • Distribute accurate accommodation lists to faculty and support teachers in understanding student needs.

  • Send regular best-practice reminders to faculty regarding the implementation of testing accommodations.

  • Ensure testing accommodations are delivered consistently, as confidentially as possible, and in alignment with student learning plans.

Testing Center Operations & Coordination

  • Lead the beginning-of-year rollout of Testing Center procedures and systems.

  • Coordinate daily Testing Center operations, ensuring a distraction-free, productive, testing environment.

  • Manage student testing schedules, including extended time and alternate testing arrangements.

  • Monitor testing start and end times to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations.

  • Communicate overflow coverage needs and adjust staffing or supervision as required.

  • Collect paper-based assessments prior to testing and return completed assessments to faculty following testing.

  • Adjust schedules during high-volume testing periods to ensure appropriate coverage and student support.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for testing-related issues, communicating promptly with teachers when concerns arise.

Collaboration with Learning Specialists

  • Observe students with documented learning profiles during testing and share relevant observations with Learning Specialists.

  • Support trial runs of accommodations and document observations to inform student support planning.

Student & Family Communication

  • Onboard ninth-grade students and families with accommodations, clearly explaining Testing Center procedures and expectations.

  • Communicate proactively with students and families regarding the use of accommodations and Testing Center protocols.

Proctoring & Student Support

  • Proctor assessments while maintaining a calm, structured, and academically honest testing environment.

  • Circulate regularly to support student focus, time management, and task engagement.

  • Monitor for academic integrity and address concerns in accordance with school policies.

  • Apply least-invasive behavior management strategies, escalating interventions as necessary and appropriate.

  • Ensure accommodations are executed with fidelity during student testing.

Data Tracking & Documentation

  • Track and document testing data, including start and end times and accommodation usage.

  • Maintain accurate records to support compliance, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Testing Center practices.

ACT & Specialized Testing Coordination

  • Coordinate and proctor ACT special testing hosted on site.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in education, administration, or a related field

  • Knowledge of testing accommodations for students with disabilities and English language learners

  • Familiarity with confidential student records 

  • Strong classroom management skills

  • Highly developed organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to coordinate schedules and materials across multiple departments

  • Proficiency with basic data systems and technology used for test administration

  • Personal and professional alignment to the school’s mission, vision, and values.

  • Knowledge of and commitment to diversity, multiculturalism, and anti-bias education in all aspects of the work with Upper School students, families, and colleagues.

  • Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving as a testing coordinator or test administrator at the secondary level

  • Knowledge of national standardized testing programs

  • Experience working with Learning Profiles, IEPs and/or Section 504 plans

  • Experience collaborating with special educators/learning specialists, counseling, and administration teams

  • Familiarity with student information systems and test management platforms

  • Training in IDEA, Section 504, and ADA compliance related to testing

Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit - sometimes for prolonged periods, stand, walk, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.


Terms of Employment: 

  • This is a full-time, 10 month faculty position

  • Professional days are considered work days and participation in planned activities is mandatory

  • Standard working hours are 8 am to 4 pm with attendance at weekly division/department meetings required. These meetings may go as late as 5 pm

  • Availability for before and after school hours 1-2 days per week is required. This will require a flexible schedule with some days beginning at 7:30AM or ending and 5:00PM. 

  • Periodic weekend hours are required to support ACT special testing.

  • Salaries are based on years of experience and education level. The salary range for this position based on the requirements stated above is 65K to 90K. If you are invited for an initial screening we will let you know where your salary falls on our scale.
