Hi Power Electric, is looking for a VDC Technician with a solid electrical background to support our projects through coordination, modeling, and layout. This role is built for someone who understands how work actually gets installed in the field and can translate that into accurate models and drawings that help the job run smoother.
The VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) Technician supports the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical systems through 3D modeling and digital construction tools. This role bridges field experience with design, ensuring accurate layouts, clash detection, and efficient installation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain 3D electrical models using software such as Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure constructability
- Perform clash detection and assist in resolving coordination issues with other trades
- Produce shop drawings, installation details, and layout drawings for field use
- Assist with BIM coordination meetings and updates
- Support prefabrication efforts through accurate modeling and spool drawings
- Maintain drawing standards and ensure models reflect current project conditions
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of electrical field experience (apprentice or journeyman background preferred)
- Basic to intermediate experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and/or Navisworks
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, and code requirements
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Preferred:
- BIM/VDC experience in an electrical or MEP environment
- Experience with Bluebeam and/or Trimble layout tools
