What You’ll Do

 

As a Monitor Tech, you’ll play a key role in patient safety, rhythm interpretation, and team support. Responsibilities include:

  • Telemetry Monitoring — Observe cardiac monitors, respond to alarms or disconnects, and document rhythm changes with timely notification to the nurse caring for the patient.
  • Continuous Coverage — Ensure patients are monitored at all times by trained staff, including during breaks or transitions.
  • Dysrhythmia Support — Assist physicians in locating dysrhythmia records and maintain organized rhythm documentation.
  • Orientation & Training — Assist with onboarding new personnel and support education on basic dysrhythmia interpretation.
  • Clinical Competency — Demonstrate proficiency in identifying life‑threatening and non‑life‑threatening rhythms using sight interpretation and EKG measurements.
  • Team Collaboration — Promote cohesive communication and support nursing staff in delivering safe, coordinated patient care.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • High School graduate or GED required; college coursework preferred
  • Minimum one year of healthcare experience with emphasis on clerical duties and high public contact
  • Completion of inhouse HealthStream elearning module on basic dysrhythmia and EKG
  • Legible handwriting and typing skills
  • Experience with patient care activities
  • Medical terminology preferred
  • Basic computer skills required
