Summary

Please Note: This is a pool position. No guarantee of hours.

 

This position is a Campus Flex position covered under the UFCW 3000 contract section 4.05 allowing this position to support multiple departments or locations.

 

Pharmacy technicians are persons who are skilled or trained in the practical, technical and distributive aspects of pharmacy practice. Through the performance of these tasks and through collaboration and teamwork with pharmacists, technicians allow pharmacists to engage in activities that optimize care and bring value to our patients. These activities primarily focus on the quality and the safety of the care provided. Technicians are supervised by licensed pharmacists who verify the accuracy of their job performance.

 

Position Reports To: Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacy Supervisor


Essential Functions

  1. Screens and directs call, takes/forwards messages and relays information accurately.

  2. Retrieves and distributes inter-office/external mail, faxes and messages.

  3. Admitting patients into the computer system and creating a patient chart.

  4. Utilize a computer system for entering and maintaining patient demographic, medical and insurance information.

  5. Enters patient medication orders into the pharmacy computer system.

  6. Researching patient information needed for calling insurance companies to check eligibility and benefits of patients.

  7. Process third-party billing and reconciliation.

  8. Adheres to all policy and procedures related to narcotic documentation, distribution and record keeping.

  9. Packaging medication and supplies as well as coordinating currier delivery of packages daily.

  10. Assists in placing, receiving and processing drug and supply orders and returns.

  11. Assists in inventory control and screening stock for outdates.

  12. Assists in organizing and maintaining the cleanliness of the department.

  13. Use of a cash register and ability to balance the cash drawer at end of day.

  14. Prepare bank deposit.

  15. May require travel to other CWH pharmacy locations.

  16. Attends meetings as required.

  17. Performs other activities/responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the pharmacy department.

  18. Communicates positively and effectively in a team approach with co-workers within and outside the department.

  19. Required to orient, train, and be regularly scheduled across both campuses.

  20. Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.

  21. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Active Washington State Pharmacy Technician License or active Washington State Pharmacist Intern Registration.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, accurate keyboarding, email communication and password management.

Desired:

  • To communicate verbally and in writing in both Spanish and English language with the ability to pass a bilingual fluency evaluation through a CH chosen vendor.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
